For anyone wondering, I had the TCL 6-Series and this U8H, and I wound up going with the Hisense and returning the TCL. The U8H seemed brighter and more vibrant overall. Even my neighbor, who knows very little about TVs, was impressed with the U8H. The TCL Series-6 gets down to $599, but for $50 more, the U8H is worth it (at the time, it was $100 more for me and I still felt the extra money for the Hisense was worth it).
With any of these Android TVs devices (Nvidia Shield, Google TV), do yourself a favor grab Sideload Channel Launcher 3 to customize your homescreen--there are SO MANY different ways configure it. Unfortunately, I couldn't get the Hisense to boot directly to a custom launcher, but I think there's a way to do it...it's just an involved process. You can, however, easily map the Home button on the remote to SCL3 though.

Do you have any thoughts on 65" TCL 6 Series (2022) at $700 versus 55" Hisense U8H at $650? Im gathering that you definitely preferred the U8H but do the prices and sizes above change that for you?
Also, do you have any input on the 120hz DV situation? I've read that it's been fixed but that the fix was halving resolution when using 120hz because the Mediatek SOC was underpowered for the task. I don't know how factual that is and I'm curious if you know more and if so, is it really an issue?

I have my U8H TVs (3 of them) set up in my basement bar primarily for watching sports via YouTubeTV (with the 4K package, but games are rarely in 4K yet), the ESPN app, etc., so I really can't speak to the situation you're referring to. I know a buddy who games on the 65" U8H with a PS5 and has no complaints. As far as the value, I prioritized the overall brightness and vibrant color of the U8H above all else. So, for me at the 55" model, it was worth the extra $100. At 65", I know you can find the U8H for $900, so it depends on how much the extra $200 means to you.
