You can just walk into the store and see how Craftsman is Sea of Red and has taken over mechanics tools section. Kobalt is down to just a fraction of what they used to sell. I'm pretty well loaded up on Kobalt stuff as it's been clearanced out over the years. Ditto for Sears Craftsman tools from the SYWR points rolling and coupon days.
I'm not worried about the Warranty part of it, since I don't break many tools and I buy them for a fraction of retail. I recently snagged one of these for $12 on clearance. I'm very happy with it so far. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-3...et/3381184
I haven't bought any of this new Lowes Craftsman stuff yet but in general the reviews aren't very good. Losing Sears, losing Kobalt and then Harbor Freight prices going crazy high just makes for less options to buy good tools for a good price any more.
Looks similar ish to a Kobalt set I got maybe 7 years ago. It's solid. I love it. I've used it quite a bit for auto maintenance and repairs. Nothing has broken or needed replacement besides the screw driver, the magnet fell out and got lost. Lowe's replaced it from one off the shelf. My set had a blow mold case however. This looks like one isnt included? My favorite feature is mine came with and extra empty drawer. Let me say it's a god send having that. It lets me store other specialty/random tools the kit didn't come with.
The page says this does not come with a toolbox similar to other mechanics sets. You have to find your own space for all of those useful and useless pieces. I have an older ~220 pc Kobalt set from years ago with a toolbox I have been very happy with as a into kit, but it came with a box.

They have stated they are not getting rid of Kobalt, they just moved Kobalt stuff to online only. That being said partnerships don't last forever, as soon as Craftsman is out again maybe Kobalt will come back to stores

I didn't say they were getting rid of kobalt. They just shrunk the mechanics and hand tools selection down to a fraction of what they used to sell.
And so if my Kobalt breaker bar, flex ratchet or swivel sockets break today, how are they going to WARRANTY them since they don't sell or make them anymore?
I've been looking for a ratchets I could buy separately for ages, but I'm always torn between "that's way too much money" and "that's just going to break like the ones I had..."
I pretty much still have two full sets of sockets, and the only functioning ratchet is my torque wrench. One of these I'll get sick of it and buy a couple Snap-on ratchets or something. 😣
