I didn't say they were getting rid of kobalt. They just shrunk the mechanics and hand tools selection down to a fraction of what they used to sell.
And so if my Kobalt breaker bar, flex ratchet or swivel sockets break today, how are they going to WARRANTY them since they don't sell or make them anymore?
Well same day replacements are probably gone, you're right there, but considering their items have lifetime guarantee and they mention that if it is discontinued they will replace with the closest item available (not specifying brand), I can only assume they would replace it with a different brand that is available. Kobalt is their brand after all, either they support their guarantee until the last kobalt breaker bar is broken, or they dont.
Light on 1/2" sockets (shallow and deep). If you buy to fill in gaps, you're going to be overlapping.
Otherwise, the # of 3/8" and 1/4" sockets is good and comparable to the Dewalt set.
Personally, I hate that these companies are not truly making a complete set.
Even with this set, you'd have to get more 1/2" sockets and more wrenches.
I bought the 192-pc Dewalt set (all ratchets, sockets, adapters, some hex, extensions and 2 allen wrench sets). No screwdriver bits or wrenches. Currently, $149 (at AMZ and HD).
I then bought the screwdriver bits, and wrenches on my own during BF.

Or Harley Davidsons. Granted, even Harley will sneak in a metric now and then but overall you'll need SAE's.
