I have a similar tool that I use to cut ends on synthetic dock ropes. It leaves a nice clean end that doesn't fray, and I don't burn my fingers. I've also used it to cut foam insulation.

Memory foam mattresses are usually multiple layers of different types of foam encased in a fitted cover. If you're wanting to cut a large mattress down to a smaller size, it's not really practical. If you're wanting to cut up the foam to use for other stuff, this would work, but the foam layers may not be what you expect.

Will it Work for 2" thick XPS insulation board? Stuff is a pita to cut with a regular sharp blade. hard to make clean cuts.

I used the harbor freight version of this to cut 4in thick foam for a golf cart seat and it did not do a great job. Ended up just using a long razor blade

These are insanely useful if you need one, absolutely worthless if you don't. Such is the way of tool life.

I use them to cut foam sheeting insulation for a massive number of projects, cutting through and sealing the ends of multi-stranded polyurethane and other plastic ropes, smoothing and touching up surfaces on 3D prints, and most recently as a welding tool for ice blocks used in ice sculptures.

Come on, old timer, get with it. Everyone these days is measuring in 7ths. A 7th is the new 8th, odd numbers are the new even numbers, we're using stones to measure weight, and for volume everything is measured in terms of the 1.5 quart (a gallon jug is now a two-and-two-thirds 1.5 quart jug).
Or maybe it was just a typo.
