Thermoworks is a trusted brand. Everything you posted looks to confuse buyers thinking they get a Thermoworks device only to find they get ThermoPro.

If you want a good cheap thermometer this is the one to get. Thermoworks makes great and accurate products. Sorry but those $9 ThermpPro ones on Amazon are junk.

That's OPs words. Reality is it's 3-4 seconds read time. This is a great, reliable thermometer. I've had mine for 5 years and bought many for gifts. At this price, it's a no brainer.

Thanks! I was hemming and hawing about getting a thermapen over thermopro this week. Was about to pull the trigger on a cheaper thing on Amazon. Thermapen one for $85 out the door sounds great!

I see Thermoworks posted a lot on slickdeals. Is this legit a good product or a shill?

Thermoworks has been an industry standard for decades. Alton Brown has sworn by them since the early days of Good Eats.

I bought several at $20 and gave to friends and family. Nothing beats this, in 2 seconds it will get to like + or - 3 degrees of what the real temp is

I've used a bunch of crap ones on Amazon that are so off until 5+ seconds

Haven't tried one of these, though this, and others on sales, look really good. I recently bought a 2-4 second read, version at 99only for $3. It's working fine. I'm happy if I get a year or two out of it. I have another with a separate probe, and reader/controller, that was around $20. It works intermittently. Lately it's been fine. At $12 (or some less) plus shipping, it's a good price for a genuinely legitimate brand. If I didn't have 2 now, I'd jump at it.

Instant thermometer? Sounds sketchy
The OP or the Mods added the 'Instant Read' part. Thermoworks doesn't claim that. They call it 'Super fast' ie about 4-5 seconds .

To echo what everyone else said, Thermoworks makes great stuff. I have their Dot and use it with multiple probes and it's amazing.

Also, what do you think goes on with all those sketchy products that get posted around here and make the front page despite getting eviscerated in the comments? At least these guys disclose their affiliate status.

No, this is for spot checking the temperature. You want something with a remote probe or one like the MEATer which works via bluetooth/wifi.

Great product, great company. This is their home cook oriented version of their Thermapen.

The fact every chef/youtuber refers to any cooking thermometer as a "Thermapen" and every Amazon brand tries to skirt around ThermoWorks Trade Mark to confuse buyers should tell you what you need to know.

Personally own two Thermopops and a Thermapen One. You can regularly get the Thermapen One for $60-70 with their sales btw so don't even consider the Thermapen Classic. I really like the Therrmopop 2 though, honestly dilutes the value of the Thermapen One. Auto-backlight + Auto-rotating screen are a bit annoying with the V1, but at $17 shipped this is better than any $25 Amazon thermometer -- even the Lavatool's Javelin which is the only Amazon one I would consider. Pick up some other stuff to make shipping more palatable, everything I've grabbed from ThermoWorks has been great.

Is it worth getting the more expensive Thermapen over these ThermoPops? They are like 7x price of these and I guess I fail to see how a thermometer can be worth that much more over this when its all from a trusted brand?

Wow, lots of hate for ThermoPro, lol. I have a couple of ThermoPros and also a ThermoWorks Thermapen. The thermopen is better quality but as far as readings, ThermoPro is right there with the thermopen!

Still going to get one of these ThermoPops, too.

ThermoPro products are awful. It may be cheaper but you're throwing your money away.
I agree............I've tried ThemoPro thermometers and wouldn't buy again. Have used Thermoworks thermometers in the kitchen and grill for years, zero complaints and buy them for gifts too.
