he said $1,495.00. if so it must be fake MSRP

Even for that price point you will not get 18k gold.

Why is this so cheap? Is it difficult to maintain? The reason I ask is because we purchased an Ebel that we thought was such a great deal until it came time to replace the battery. No watch repair shop would even touch it. Every two - three years, we have to send it to the factory to get it replaced for about $200. We stopped doing it.

Does this watch have a similar issue?

It's being sold by Grey market shop hence the lower price, possible overstock and no Tissot warranty. Also it has no battery so not frequently but may be depending on use you may have to get it serviced every 5-7 years and it's on expensive side. You may want to find a reliable watch shop locally who services automatics.

What's with the price difference? Is this like Invicta, where the MSRP appears to be inflated?

Tissot is a good entry level Swiss watch. One of the oldest Swiss watchmaker (1853). Invicta does not hold a candle to Tissot. Jomashop is a grey market seller. I purchased at least 3 watches from them (Citizen blue angels Eco-drive, Certina DS Podium chronograph and recently a Breitling heritage 2 Super Ocean). I just pulled the trigger on this one making it my 4th purchase from them.

It's Joma Shop being a little... creative. Tissot's "PRS 516" model comes in a number of different iterations, including a mechanical chronograph version that does have an msrp that is currently over $1500. However, the official Tissot msrp on the specific PRS 516 model we're looking at here was around $650.

Now, this msrp inflation is 100% Joma's marketing claim and not Tissot's, so not really the same situation as Invicta. Invicta publishes an phony msrp of $300-500 for watches they themselves are selling on their own website for $80. I doubt anyone has ever actually paid that wacky msrp for an Invicta, whereas this Tissot is currently being offered at $650 by a national jewelry chain.

Cheapest I see it elsewhere else is on sale for $596 at Macy's. Jomashop's Exaggerated MSRP aside, Tissot is a legitimately reputable and respectable watch brand. Brands like Invicta don't compare.

I don't think this watch brand new was ever $1495. It seems like the Tissot India site lists this at around $1k, so the price is still a great price.

Dang I didn't catch the rose gold version in stock. Didn't like the black blue but that rose gold is beautiful. Oh wells, save some for the next watch.

Edit: rose gold version back in stock. Got one with 2% cb from rak. Woot!

Macy's link shows a very nice on wrist picture:

What stopped me from buying it, is that you have to wear it at least once every few days. Correct me if I'm wrong, but since it's powered without battery, its power bank is charged by your motion, which lasts 3 days if you don't wear it. I'm the type of person who'd wear a fancy watch only on the rare special occasion so its not for me, but for the everyday fancy watch wearer, it seems worth.

You realize that the powermatic (this model) has a power reserve of 80 hours. One of the highest power reserves in a mechanical watch. My $5k Tag Heur and my $10k Speedmaster has half this power reserve. This is not even considered fancy in Swiss watch standard. It is decent and inexpensive. Battery powered watch will eventually break with open and closing it in between faster intervals of battery change. Sometimes the battery will leak and corrode the internal parts. Mechanical watch is an engineering marvel.
