This is a beast. Got it for $25 in that SD last year. Like it a lot, great for the price with that D2. But it's not an EDC.

My feelings exactly. The safety is stupid and it's more difficult than necessary to open one handed.

Not a real deal, even though the price wants you to believe otherwise. Plus, d2 is not stainless steel, no matter how they try to label it as so. Way too many carbides, etc.

Stainless doesn't always mean good In Cutlery industry, all D2, CPM3V, CPM4V, and 1095 steel are non stainless steels, but they are good for specific purposes on much more expensive knives. On the other hand, stainless steel 440A being used on many knives has pretty bad performance in harsh environments.

It does open in a flash, but only if you hit that thumb stud just right. Too many way better options out there though. I bought a Pentagon during the same sale last year and that is way better in form, function and steel.

I have not encountered one of these "extra safeties" that I want to use. I carried a Leek for years but actually removed the safety because it kept sliding into place in my pocket.

I'm very aware, and I agree with your statement. I have knives ranging from $40 to $2k, folding and fixed. I'm aware of the use cases for specific metals. I was simply staying on track with the post and mentioning the title is entirely inaccurate in saying this d2 blade is stainless. It isn't. Less informed metallurgists or knife fans wouldn't know it's a flat out lie.

I see, sorry for misunderstanding, I believe SD has modified my deal title. It should be "SOG Flash AT Folding Knife 3.4" Drop Point Cryo D2 Blade GRN Handle".Smilie

I'm in Philly and never had an issue with D2 rusting except one fixed blade with a very mild coating. I do not know if I have carried a D2 blade for any length of time, as I so many to choose from now, but no issues in storage either. I think the only knife with rust issues, other than some cheap SAK knockoff, was VG10 that had some pitting when I received it. That was very surprising since VG10 is very stainless but I think it was a defect. These were some deep pits and I think there must have been an issue with the blade blank. They replaced it and zero issues with the replacement.

All these Flash knives have a coating anyway which should minimize and issues. Just wish they were better knives generally.

The blade is coated to help with any rust issues.

D2 is really close to stainless steel.

I live 5 miles away from the ocean in a very humid state, never had any D2 rust on me, let alone coated D2.

This is honestly a great knife, have the non-serrated version and it hasn't failed me once. Picked up two, thank you 👍🏼
