Ok i think microcenter needs its own subforum.
My disappointment is immeasurable when i see a great deal just to find out its microcenter, and my day is ruined.
I miss the days of the old, massive Computer Shopper magazine when there were dozens and dozens of merchants all competing on price. Consolidation has not been kind to consumers.
People getting these at this point would likely be for budget gaming and everyday use, who aren't necessarily going to get a super high end GPU or SSD where PCIE gen 4.0 would be needed/noticeable. And there's no "futureproofing" with AM4 anymore (makes very little sense to upgrade to a 5950x years from now), so B450 isn't detrimental.

If you have any good friends that live near one, it's usually worth it to have them ship it to you. My brother does this for me. I had him buy and ship me just the CPU when the 5800X was $250 back in Feb of 22. Shipping was $3.

I know the feeling. All those old Fry's deals (RIP) used to do the same to me. Glad to see a store in the Detroit Area taking on the mantle though.

I miss the computer shows and mom and pop wholesale where one could both get a good wholesale deal and not pay sales tax

In the early 90s, the Computer Shopper magazine was massive. Probably weighed 10lbs and had thousands of venders/bulders.

It's not that great of a deal. 5600x is about 140 these days. m-Atx board is about 80 give or take.
