The mic arm is definitely a bit pricy. It is good quality and sturdy though.
It's possible to use a third party mic arm, as long as two things are kept in mind:
1. This is an unusually heavy mic and a lot of arms have reportedly failed.
2. It'll also easily pick up on vibrations and movements from the arm, which is why you want a shock mount.
The mic itself is $130 on GameStop and the sale only lasted a few hours, but at this point it doesn't matter either way as both this deal and the GS deal is over sadly...

Agree that the boom arm and shock mount are about $140, so this is a great deal.
