For those who missed it this charges using micro USB. Also there are a number of complaints that you only have 30 seconds to start your car once it's ready, otherwise you have to start the process over.
What I have figured less than 1100 Amp ones are just landfills. This one is only 500 Amp, totally useless even for smaller size cars. Plus this is expensive. I have seen various deals here on 1000+ Amp for the same price listed here in the past. I had one, first ever such, from sears, around same Amp and did nothing on fusion, a medium size car the first time ever I used. Nothing, nil, nada, and it was dead without giving even one lucky boost. Then the battery expanded sitting in my dashboard, and it was dead, went to landfill new.
Meh, this looks over priced compared to the other deals on jump starters in the past.

You are correct, I went through the same process. By now I have bought 4 of these and discarded 2 already, so listen to the above and make sure to get the correct one for your car and have some extra buffer.
First I bought I was clueless, just bought "a jump starter". 200 Amp regular and 400 "peak" amp (for a few seconds). It helped me once because the battery was barely not enough so it only needed to aid a little. I thought I was golden. 2nd time dead battery the battery was really low and the booster/jump starter could not help.
Bought a stronger one, NOCO GB 40, great thing but too small for my car. Helped me a few times but one time I let the car sit at the airport for a few weeks and had a drain issue. Came back and battery empty as can be. Noco GB 40 did not do anything. Called AAA and AAA tried half an hour to get the car going. Finally after bridging from AAA truck and assisting with extra booster we got going again. AAA guy said the BMW M54 engine (3.0L V6) is "hard to start" and requires a lot of juice.
Here is me buying number 3 and 4 noname cheap stuff during a BF/CM to be on the safe side. 1000Amp and 2000Amp "peak". Also fixed the drain issue and got a new battery. All problems solved. That said those two companies and devices from 3 and 4 cannot be found any longer on the Internet, brands non-existent.

If I were to start over again I would get the new series from Noco, like the GBX55 [amazon.com]. Yes they are expensive but usually 30-40% off during Amazon sales on prime day or BF/CM.
IMHO, this Michelin thing will start most older 4 cylinder cars without issues but I recommend you get some extra buffer. If you have a V6, buy something for V8, if you have a V8, buy something for even larger. Watch for "peak AMP", and anything under 1k is pretty useless. If you have a V6/V8 I recommend you go for 2000 AMP peak 1000 sustained.
If you are really empty it can help to connect it to the battery and start the button but don't start yet, just let it send some juice to the battery for 30 sec. Do this 2-3 times and then try to start. Make sure you don't overheat the little dohicky. Most of them also have an override button if your battery is really dead. The device should be strong enough to start your car without the battery connected. But think about cold weather and that you may not have charged the little guy and it may only be at 70/80% itself. So have extra power.

Other than that these things are fun. I bailed out a few people over time, Everybody is always in disbelief when you pull out this handheld and tell them it will start their car and then they cannot belief it worked. Big Grin

If you don't want to spend the money for a NOCO take a look at these:They will likely run circles around this thing from Costco. Costco should get a Noco deal, that would be something.
I am elated to see that nowadays they have more compact ones with USB charger (can be charged from your car?). Just few years ago, after my bad experience with junk low Amp compact booster from sears, I didn't find higher Amp ones with compact built/USB chargers. I bought craftsman from sears, the traditional heavy duty ones, that was BULKY and incredibly HEAVY. And could only be charged from wall plugs (three prong). I sold it because it was taking too much space in car, heavy, and then you had to bring it home to keep it recharged. I would definitely be going for these compact ones 2000amp+ as soon as I find a deal.

What about this one and this one better than https://www.costco.com/type-s-por...36606.html [costco.com]

One deal here?
My brother bought this Type-S when it was on sale and was very, very disappointed as it wouldn't start his Chevy Traverse or Ford van... It started his lawn mower, and it could handle small 4-cyl engines - but a Toyota Camry is about as big as I would expect. It's just not that good. He ended up buying the sealed-lead-acid Caterpillar booster/air compressor/inverter/USB charger and has been okay with that.

TL/DR: Buy quality (probably not the OP) but only the amperage you actually need (500+ is fine for most people). Lots of no name brands work great, just look at reviews like anything else.

It's really disappointing seeing upvoted misinformation.

First, this kind of tool is to help when your battery is low but otherwise your car is fine. If your car is so busted that it can barely be jumped by a tow truck… maybe the problem isn't the little jump starter. This will not fix your failing starter, bad alternator, poor compression, oil fouled plugs, etc.

95% of vehicles will be fine with 500+ amps. The one in my van is only rated for 600 amps but has worked on every vehicle I own (1.5l Honda, 3.5l Toyota v6, and 5l Ford v8). I also like that I'm not out $$$ if I loan a cheaper one to somebody and don't get it back. If you have a big block/diesel then sure you need more amps but most people don't.
Also, if your jump starter is having a tough time - don't forget to turn off all the accessories to allow the battery to recover a bit before cranking. Things like headlights and whatever got left on to kill the battery can be a huge power draw and not all vehicles can shut off those circuit when it's trying to crank. Radio with amplifiers and DVD players, HVAC blower, phone chargers all reduce the amount of current available to help the boost. They might be fine, but if the booster is struggling, it's not going to hurt to shut them off for a few minutes. Also, Boosters struggle in the cold. It helps to take them indoors for 10-15 minutes to warm them up before attempting to start the car. No reason to freeze yourselves if the battery is dead and the booster can't kick it on, go inside and warm up before trying again.

500a for this price seems terrible. I recommend this one instead for $10 more (20 off coupon)

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BDRPHR72

Project farm reviewed another model of theirs that didn't have a pump and it was the best for the money.

Happen to have an idea of the largest/most demanding engine you've used it on? I've got an aging Nissan Armada with tow package that requires ~750 CCA to start. Replaced the battery the last time it died on me even though the checkers claimed it was fine and I haven't had an issue since. Still I would like to have one of these in reserve just in case it turns my suspicions are true and it wasn't *just* the battery causing it and it dies on me again. Made the mistake of blowing money on one of the EverStart Maxx POS starters, and don't want to be doing that again.
I highly recommend the GOOLOO GP2000, which is $10 off right now on Amazon.

It has started everything I've tried it on. 7.2L Diesel, SUV's, Skid Steers, Cars. It even cranked over a 24v bucket loader in -25F weather.

It has worked way better than the big battery packs people have tried before I jumped them.

I actually picked up the GOOLOO GT3000, so I'll assume I'm good with it if the GP2000 works so well.

FWIW, I tested the 450 amp Harbor Freight model in the following way. I went out to my car on a cold January day. I disconnected the positive terminal from the battery and hooked the portable starter direct to the positive battery cable. I went through the process to use the starter and the car (six cylinder SUV) started on the first crank. I have had to use it several times since with no failures. I point this out not to advocate for the Harbor Freight model, but only to say 500 amps is plenty of cranking amps.

I used it to start my Honda Odyssey multiple times. No issues started immediately.
