A family member gifted one like this to my daughter.
Assembly took well over an hour.
My girls played with it fir a day or so, they were 2 and 4 at the time.
Now it just sits there with random toys stacked on and around it.
A nice purchase as a gift but ultimately a waste of money and materials.

All these children checkout lanes are just more proof that the local child merchant are being put out of business by the big box stores and e-commerce.

Got the barebones version of this for our kids for Christmas from Target for about $130 iirc (so without the additional add on items like the apron and grocery items). At $100 for all that's included, this is a great deal if your kids are into make believe / real-life make-believe type play. Our kids get tons of play out of it, and they just about lost their minds when the scanner started beeping anytime they ran an item over it. I work from home, so we stack my very real mid-day snacks on their shelves and I come out of my office to "buy" my snacks from them with play money whenever I need a break. Build quality is fantastic, and it'll definitely last long past the age they outgrow their interest in it. Highly recommend.

Were you not loved as a child? You must be fun at parties.
The irony is strong with this one.

Not very realistic. We all know our local grocery stores expect us to self checkout these days
how long do kids play this before they begin griping about low tips?

Aside from the total lack of humor (aside from sarcasm against the poster) either in this particular context or the person(s), there's two sides to this: The merchant and the customer. Being that it's SD people are far less likely to have an issue with consumerism both on the level of a deal on this site and in this case the context the toy presents, and not surprisingly respond with antagonism towards any suggestion or observation about it.

And we're not even talking about fast food.

That's the restaurant playset, which might be interesting if it's based on the movie Waiting.

Or some for longer, my two daughters loved playing with stuff like this when they were younger. I am not talking about days or weeks they used their stuff and did pretend play for years (up until ages 7-8ish). Our almost 3 year old has spent almost a year pretend playing with his kitchen set.

For some children these are amazing investments. Obviously YMMV and all kids are not the same.

Careful. Your kids might ask you for a $25.00 an hour allowance.

I have one of these and my 2 yo and 4 yo love it. Takes up a lot of space, though.

Different kids like different stuff though. My daughter would go nuts over this.
They all go nuts and then eventually get bored. You could probably build something like this out of carboard boxes and put a $1 calculator as check out machine and make some sounds, probably will have same amount of fun.

Don't forget, they will vote to unionize too.. Until they learn "union takes cut out of our paycheck?"

Same could be said about almost all toys, no? Depends on the kids, my kids still play with toys plenty, much better than sitting in front of an iPad watching worthless crap all day

This is so wholesome and cute! Great idea!!!

My son loves more real life pretend scenarios and toys so we're in for 1 to set up at the grandparent's house!

That doesn't really say anything about the product and it's quality. Just that your kids don't like it. Thanks for sharing nothing insightful.

Yes trying to help someone make an informed decision about a supposed deal is nothing insightful from someone who actually owns a like item almost certainly produced in the same sweat shop as this one, before someone who doesn't already own this or a like item, again, nothing insightful.
Buy it and toss it in the trash next to your book titled "I'm the smartest guy in the room"
