Sounds like a defect or something . Me and many others don't have these problems.

But feel free to continue just buying Dewalt.

if you need the battery only, can use https://www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGID-18V-Brushless-Cordless-1-2-in-Impact-Wrench-Kit-with-4-0-Ah-Batte... [homedepot.com] to hack but keep the 2x6.0 Max Output for $93.22

I also think it sounds like a defective item. I've been using rigid for 6 years now and it's all I buy if it's reasonable in price. My three interactions with support were great, but if you read threads and internet sounds like they may not be so great support wise.

Back to the point, that new charger is garbage compared to the old ones and I agree it's worth 10 at most

These were $50 over the weekend delivered, minus the charger. I don't think the charger is worth the $30 delta. If these were the newer style battery then maybe some interest, but they look like the older style.
I don't believe the 2 battery deal at DTO carried the LSA. This deal does though.

It did, but so does this.

Just trying to get the facts straight for the next go around. My understanding is you only get the LSA if it's a "kit" purchase. I saw the DTO offer and saw nothing listed about the LSA.

I'm pretty disappointed that Ridgid switched from their older style18V batteries with rubber overmold to the new ones that are just hard plastic all around. I haven't seen any difference in performance but the old batteries felt a lot more substantial in build quality.

I will also confirm that the newer chargers are nowhere near the build quality of their older ones. I have three different styles of Ridgid charger: one that came with my Gen5X set 4-5 years ago that holds the battery up at 90 degrees, another that came with a separate kit that holds the battery at 45 degrees, and the newest one (from this deal) that's light as a feather. The first two chargers are much beefier and have the AC/DC adapter inside the charger itself and the newest one has that POS wall-wart adapter.

I guess at the end of the day they all to the same job, but I absolutely hate the wall-wart. You're not going to get it to fit inside an enclosed outdoor outlet box, it'll take up two spots on a triple-tap or power strip, etc.

I think you get lifetime on these vs separate batteries

Nope, you get the LSA on the DTO loose batteries as well. I have 4 of them registered for LSA.

I bought these online at HD one early November Saturday morning with a better charger for $50. Heck of a deal but it may have been a pricing error.

That policy changed in early 2021 to extend LSA to all batteries purchased thereafter.

I believe Ridgid refreshes their lineup every Spring, and that's when policy changes are also introduced. All these recent sales are inventory reduction before the new hardware appears.

If LSA is an important selling point to a shopper, some homework should be done to be clear on eligibility for the stuff being considered.

Oh no, here we go again with the tool wars. Having said that, Milwaukee is the best. Sorry, I meant Dewalt, Makita, Ryobi & Ridgid. They're the best.

DeWalt offshore garbage led the others to have to do the same.

Ridgid is good, Milwaukee and Makita best imho these days tho with Milwaukee leading innovation and Makita finding news ways to be expensive af

I'm glad to see prices coming down. I bought this set in February last year for $99 and have no complaints.

I have a friend who's worked at Home Depot for over 20 years. He says the Milwaukee brand is the least returned of the big 3. That's why he believes Milwaukee is the best.
