They werent being analyzed, they were saving camera snapshots in the cloud for sending phone notifications, and the security behind that storage was weak.

Still a black eye for them

I think they were being analyzed for facial recognition algorithms as well. Maybe analyze is the wrong word here? But they were definitely using it for more than just notifications.

The output is limited to 4K @ 30Hz.
Does this mean I can play Pong on a big screen now?

Anker is good, but their stuff seems to be overpriced now.

I don't get the HDMI interface. Does it take video input from a usb-c port and mirrors it as output on the HDMI interface? I guess that saves the need for one usb-c to hdmi cable?

yeah, steam deck / switch only have one method of outputting video which is usb-c, but it also needs that for charging so these combo chargers are great for that.

The best is that people were surprised to learn that a still photo taken by their doorbell suddenly showing up on their phone when they are in another state requires the thumbnail to be sent to the cloud?! How that surprised anyone is kinda scary, people must just think WiFi, LTE, cloud servers, etc. are all just magic.

When I found out that was what it ultimately was, I can't believe they got all that bad press for that.

Keep in mind you need a cable with a chip in it for high power 20V/5A outputs, and it's dangerous

I've posted this for $16 https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B083J229RJ
almost the same, included 100W chipped USB-C cable
When there were no GaN deals on SD, but mods deleted it, claiming Baseus is in a banned brands list
I guess they bought their way out of it.
I posted another 65W GaN deal for $11 from a different brand (without the cable), and it got deleted again

When was Baseus banned?
It is really weird how Slickdeals doesn't disclose who is banned, when, or why.
...and then how some of those banned companies seem to come to some business agreement where they are unbanned and constantly promoted by Paid SD Staff Influencers.

Spend an extra $20 and get the 100w version with the plugins
It won't work on airplanes. Needs to be under 75W

I love my 65 Watt BaseUS which I use with my Steam Deck and a separate USB C dock for HDMI. Really don't care if BaseUS shill, I like their GaN charger and would be interested if the HDMI works 1080p 60Hz which is all Steam Decks can realistically game at. Depends on your use case, would fit mine.

Last week I bought a $60 (but I got the $12 coupon they offered) Baseus 65W power bank. It would only discharge to 32%, and charging went from 0-to-32% with nothing in-between. It didn't seem to have anywhere near the rated capacity. It did power my LG Gram 17 (that comes with an 85W power supply) but for much less time than it should've. I boxed it up and returned it the same day. Later that day, I bought a 100W power supply that was $50, and had a coupon (I spent something like $44 for it). It isn't as pretty (but looks just fine), but it works exactly as it should, and now I have three of them.

Baseus didn't even mention the power button for their power bank in the manual. They promptly answered my question about it, but without mentioning the power button except as a subject matter (the button isn't the display). Here's the reply they sent:
Quote :
The instructions for the button:
1. In the no-load state, the button displays the current power at one time.
2. Under the load state, the button displays the current power once, the current-voltage again, and the current again.
3. When multiple devices output at the same time, display the total output current of multiple devices.
4. When the input and output sides, only the input voltage and current are displayed.
Hope the above information is helpful. If any questions, please feel free to contact us.
I don't trust this brand.

Well the issue was that they advertised completely local storage. That was what their entire Euphy brand was based on. Additionally I think I read that it was possible to figure out the links for viewing camera footage.

I posted in the second half of November, and the reason I posted because there were no GaN PS deal posts in SD, and I was actively seeking one for few months once the tech became available. And for the 65W w/Special 100W USB-C cable for $16 was a really good deal. Mods did a disservice to the community by deleting it, regardless if its in a banned list or not. I explained that and offered to change the smile. Amazon link to SD referral link, but they won't allow that either.
Now, there are many deals for GaN power bricks, so it's a different situation.
but still would be interesting to know what Baseus did to get in and out of the banned list

We should keep a list outside of SD, for example, in Reddit, what word converts to "URL has been broken".

This is straight up incorrect. They had crappy security on their cloud storage and deserve the scrutiny for it, but they were not doing more than that.

People don't think about the tech they use everyday by design šŸ™‚ but even then serves Eufy right for the extremely poor security after making grand claims about protecting customer privacy
