Seems like something that is not needed for me and probably many others.
Kasa line is top notch and im really a big fan. Have 15 of them running. Its integrated with my amazon alexa and HASSIO system. Really dont see a point of me getting matter compatible ones especially at this price point.
Iv been using kasa for years and never had any issues. System just works. I use the the plugs only and one light switch at my parents.
For light switches, Lutron really makes the best system. You sure do pay for it, but it is simply the best available.

I used to have Lutron like 15 plus years ago and they were good, then I had regular switches for years, over the last few years put a ton of Kasa stuff in which I liked but just put in a Lutron Caseta dimmer in a few days ago with the Pico remote and I love it, think I will switch out my other dimmers and fans to Caseta also. What's nice is that Caseta will be great for my office, for some reason the builder put the light switch outside the room but not one inside so I can put a Caseta dimmer on the outside and have a pico remote inside. It will work great in the basement too so if I am in the theater area I can just control the lights with a Caseta dimmer.

I was referring to Casetta. I should havw specified. Caseta is amazing. Just so you know they just came out with the new diva dimmer switch that is much better than the older maestro line . Might want to use that. I just installed two and it is indeed a better design and I heard they fixed many issues. They are super pricey though but I found the complete kits on ebay to be pretty cheap.

I actually don't like the new design, I like the old design, I am familiar with it. I had a Maestro switch years ago that looked like it. I actually have a few of the new LED+ Sunnata switches and they are super cool, just a shame I have to take them out because they can't be controlled remotely. I love sliding my finger up and down the Sunnata.
There are a lot of people that would enjoy having one standard that would work seamlessly across brands, devices, assistants etc.
That was the entire point of the post you were responding to. Zigbee, Zwave, and Matter have all claimed to be the "protocol to end all protocols" and unify the smarthome under one standard, but none have achieved this, and usually just add another standard that only further segments the smarthome space[xkcd.com].
