I love this thing for the portability. Super easy to toss in the truck and set up on the small miter stand they sell. Really fast and lightweight for punch out and small jobs. It's single bevel but you basically cut everything on the flat anyway with this due to blade capacity. Not really a problem if you know how to cope and don't need to do production. I cope all inside corners on base and crown with a dedicated jig saw and collins foot. The shadow light is great except you can't see it in the sunlight so I'm usually eyeballing the line.

I've had this thing for years doing small remodel and trim jobs. It fits my needs perfectly. This helps me basically run a full carpentry setup out of a Tacoma. Saves a ton of room and backache. Something to note is that the shadow light is unusable in sunlight. The battery life is better than you'd think though. I usually run a 6ah for the power and to run all day but a 2ah well push it if for a few cuts if needed. Just don't think you'll be building a deck with this. It's a small trim saw. Great for fast in and out, moving room to room, bring up on the roof or down to the barn. Hardwood floors, tight remodels, one or two day trim jobs, nickel gap, wood siding. There is a learning curve if you don't cut trim on the flat though so know this going in. Do not expect to even do small base upright. You'll be setting compound angles on most crown and cutting things all funky if it's your only saw. Decent blades are cheap so keep extra if you find a good deal. You'll go though them faster than a big saw.

I've had this for about a year now. I wanted something I can easily throw on a shelf in my garage without taking up a large footprint and use here and there for some basic DIY stuff around the house. I've been happy with it and it gets the job done!

Price wise, with this including the battery that's a solid deal. This was about $290 tool only before if I remember correctly .

Description doesn't really call out the battery and charger- looking at the model number on acme (same price but 3-5 Wei back order) it comes with the dcb204 (4ah) battery and the pic looks like the dcb112.

DCB204 provides on average, 183 cuts of 2 x 4 pine or 275 cuts of 3-1/4-in pine baseboard

Quote from sc2tennessee :
I pulled the trigger at Lowes myself. I'm heavily invested in the Dewalt 20V ecosystem though. I don't really need another 20V battery, but I suppose you can't have too many. The kicker for me is the sub 35-lb weight. My 12" miter saw is a monster and takes up so much room. I don't have a dedicated stand for it so it's so heavy and cumbersome that I find myself rarely ever pulling it out. To be able to use the 7-1/4 on 99% of what a homeowner needs is a no-brainer for my purposes. What's your application and usage scenario?

This is the saw with the battery and charger as well, $299.
I have the corded 12" double bevel, so I'm trying to justify getting this. If it was double bevel, I wouldn't hesitate.

Home use with some custom wood working (night stand organizers, etc.).

Great saw. My go-to unless I need to make larger capacity cuts. I have even cut schluter trim with it using a 60-tooth blade; works great.

Just make sure you get one with perfectly aligned fences otherwise they are a single metal piece and non adjustable. Also make sure you get one with a plunge cut that isn't out of alignment of the slide cut - that's how my first one was so the entry into every cut edge looked rounded compared the the subsequent line the sliding action cut (made for some sh!# miter joints).

Dewalt needs to update this model already. Its been ages! Id sell my Milwaukee 7 1/4 if dewalt would just go dual bevel and brushless wouldnt hurt.

I own this and the 12" sliding miter. I've used my 12" once since purchasing this a couple years back. This is one of my favorite tools. I paid around $175 tool only.
