Im in socal and went to the Patagonia store in Santa Monica to return something. They had everything on sale for 50% off. Never seen a Patagonia store that busy.
Cotopaxi is the name of a State in Ecuador. How is it legal to take the name of an entire State and use it for private commerce? Can I open a boot shop and call it texas.com? This also happened with Putumayo which is a record label stealing the name of a Colombian State. Not cool
The founder lived in Ecuador as a child, and was inspired by the volcano (Cotopaxi) by his home. The company focuses on giving back, and is perfectly shown by this young founder now leaving his company behind as he embarks on a three-year sabbatical to northern Brazil for his church.
Their color schemes are not my thing. Maybe a few color combos capture my interest. I know this brand is expensive, but wonder how the quality compares to Patagonia or Marmot.
I recently bought their fuego hooded down jacket to replace my +10 yo TNF down jacket. It's quality is on par with my old TNF, and I cannot pinpoint anything negative about it, so far. Worth the price I paid, for sure. HTH!

I hear that - I just took American Airlines to visit American University, no way I'm supporting private commerce stealing the names helpless countries and states. First time in the big city too, and the underground subway there had a sandwich shop all over the city. Nice to know there are plenty of state run businesses to choose from.

Omg, that is such a crazy complaint.
Patagonia, Columbia and even The North Face are the biggest names in outdoor world and all named after geografical locations/places.
And countless other brands and trademarks have geografical names, from Nokia to bikini

It does help....thanks!
I was actually looking at the Fuego. Enjoy hearing about people's comments/experiences instead of only reading the online reviews.

I honestly hope you're kidding. Countless company names are inspired by places, animals, colors, etc... You think Puma is paying licensing fees to a bunch of felines? Does Apple send money to orchards or Amazon pay the rainforest?
Have 2 of the fuego jackets and 2 of the vests, really love them however sometimes the vests are $99 or lower. The jackets ive seen for over half off. The quality is really nice, and it's warm. This 40% off sale isn't really worth it unless you're looking for a specific color way.
