I bought these Apple gc at Target so many times without problem although I heard people's story all over. Finally today it's happened to me and I'm out of $200 that I can't get back.

I opened 1 of them right in the store to load them to Apple account. Doesn't work. Go to Customer Service. They told me to fk off and call apple basically. Because of their "policy". No refund no support. No matter what I say
I opened the other 3 in front of them (all $50). All does not work. They see it. And keep saying the same thing, even rude to me, like nothing's gonna happen. Basically they're fine with selling you shit they know doesn't work (they see it with their eyes - its not like i went home and redeem them - I opened in front of them). And they said without flinching it's not their responsibility and tell me to call Apple - which I'm 100% sure Apple will tell me to call Target.
I knew their was a scam going on, but I expected Target to stand behind what they sell, especially if I open the gc right in front of them. Kayla from Target, I hope you will get what coming to you for what you said to me today. See how you like when you bought $200 of product from a store that is broken right after the register and the store refuse to do anything about it. Gotta warn people that Target won't support you. Apple will be even less likely.

*Update: called apple, provided them the serial of both the sleeves and the inside cards. A customer service agent confirmed that the sleeve was indeed loaded money and the card inside was different and does not match. The money was also still there. She blocked the card associated with the sleeve so the scammer can't get the money. Then her supervisor take over, tell me to send receipts and photos and such, thought i was going to get a refund but then he said nope, this is target fault, go back to target, they have the money we don't have the money, although i already told him target won't help. He told me to contact Target Corporate (WTF ? how ?). I told him the money is in the gc that I purchased and activated, they just have to load that to my apple account. He said i dont' get it, then the call disconnected.

So 2 big corporation stiffled $200 out of me today, in the USA. unbelievable.

So people need to be aware that you're taking a gamble with this: If you got scammed, they WON"T support you. YOU WILL LOSE the money.
Yes. You can add up to $2000 to your apple balance and then up to 8 gift cards on top of that for an apple.com purchase.
Here is the current info from the checkout page on apple.com

"You can use up to 8 Apple Gift Cards. Apple Gift Cards can't be used with PayPal or split credit card payments."

For those that do not know, Apple gift cards can be used to buy Apple hardware.

You might even be able to increase your savings with Apple by price-matching some upcoming Target sales. I don't have personal experience with trying this, but I have read people say it's possible to price-match via phone support. If not, you could still use the gc's to save $ on the new HomePod (2nd Gen) that just released today if that interests you.

Also this gift card deal should also apply toward the spend requirement for any Target Circle Bonus offer (YMMV if your account has/gets one).

***Edit: As I said in the OP, the Apple Store app allows you to use your Apple Account Balance + an additional 4 gift cards. The limit used to be 8, but joseatt found that Apple's website checkout still allows 8. I hope knowing this discrepancy will help people in their shopping.***
