The 14 in. tool was on sale last week at Home Depot for $200, but had to use "hack" to get that price. To change out the 14" with a 16" bar is $30, so $230, to make this deal comparable. I bought the 14" deal but this at $285 from Amazon, with potential 5% back if using Amazon Visa, I feel is pretty slick without the need for a hack. Note: not sold/shipped from Amazon but one day delivery and seems to be a reputable seller.

This was as low as $230(?) w/ 12.0 battery last year; may not see that again this year but I would wait for the annual milwaukee OPE deals to drop unless you need it immediately.

I think you're mistaken. I've been waiting for a good deal on this saw and never saw it for $230 with a 12.0 battery

I believe that was through a very brief glitch. It was available for $326 in april/may of last year for a decent amount of time.

If so, I don't think it's fair to say that this was available for $230 with a battery. The bare tool 14" at $200 was a popular deal last week and within the thread I linked to there was a discussion of buying the 14" with the hack and changing the bar to the 16". If you already have the high output batteries, this at $285 is a good deal with no hack and no need to buy the larger bar and go through the trouble of changing it out and is readily available. The bare tool 16" has never been this low.

It's not much trouble to change a bar... same process as when you change out the chain.

interesting. I also thought this has been much cheaper but maybe I am confusing it with the 14 inch or I am experiencing the Mandala effect. How do you spell Berenstain Bears?

Would the 8ah battery be enough to power this or would it still bog down?

All M18 High Output batteries are sufficient (6.0, 8.0, 12.0) to power this saw.
