Not sure why you're downvoted. It's true. They're still very fast, and you won't run into it unless doing huge file copies/video editing.

The bigger issue with all M-series is the TBW for the base (8/256) versions (see pic). They seem so fast at first, until you open more than 20 browser tabs or do heavy multi-tasking between apps. It's all over HN and Macrumors that it causes high levels of writing to swap on the SSD, and even though Apple is using very robust drives capable of ~2,000 full rewrites, the 8/256 could require a replacement within 3-4 years (again, see pic after 2 months of usage showing 5% wear on the SSD). Given how long pre-Apple-silicon Macs lasted (my 2012 MBA and 2015 MBP are still in use) and that the only solution to an M1/M2 SSD replacement means a full mobo replacement, it's something to consider. That said, very few HN users with >16 GB RAM saw this happen. However, I consider myself fairly tech savvy, and I was not aware of this until I went hands-on with it. Linux, Windows, and even Intel Macs all write to swap a lot less than Apple Silicon Macs.

I've tried the M1 and M2 MBA base versions, so these TD deals got me praying. I had just ordered a refurb base M1 Pro (16/512) from Apple as a last-ditch effort for a semi-affordable laptop (otherwise would get an M1 Mini with 24 GB) but this would be both cheaper and better for my usage (I want to max RAM but don't want to pay for it).

Unless of course you can't stand the notch on the screen, which is pretty weird to see on a laptop.

Any M2 256GB will have the SSD performance cut in half. Not going to be good for Audio Production.

Lol, if it were stolen, you certainly could. My best-ever Mac deal was from a college student who used student loans to buy the laptop tax-free from the bookstore to sell for cash to fix her car. Close to this in terms of the percent off.

In my experience, it doesn't pay to get greedy with these things. It's not like the old days when there weren't scripts etc to catch this. I ordered 1 each in 2 separate orders (MBA and MBP) in the hopes that 1 ships.

That said, I see both in order history, but they don't have invoices yet.

Placed order a few mins after deal posted. Received order confirmation after order and then 20 mins later received follow-up confirmation showing UPS ground shipping method. Hasn't shipped yet though.

Also, what if they ship a brick ?? we are in for good fun...I'm already fighting with a denied claim from paypal where the chinese shipper delivered to wrong address and paypal denied my claim... Now I had to send picture of my porch and the picture of other house's porch
