I had one of these small machines in the past. They work well, but they are SMALL and need to make multiple batches if its more than just you.
The plastic panels were a bit of a pain to clean (get your arm around back of the kettle brakets), and i noticed that towards the bottom of the plastic panels, hot kernels had melted a bit of the plastic. I gave it away when i upgraded to this one https://smile.amazon.com/gp/produ...UTF8&psc=1
If you are serious about popcorn, just pony up and get this one. Heats up rediculously fast and makes great popcorn.
Pro-tip: Go to smart and final and get Flavacol, Popping Oil, and Topping oil....its the cheapest i've found.
My son has a 'theater room,' and we have movie nights with this popcorn machine popping away. We love it. But ....it only makes sense if you're actually going to use it enough so it doesn't sit on a shelf for 90% of the time.
Too much work having to clean it. I'm sure it would be great for a large group but I prefer the tea kettle size popper Walmart sells. I can microwave the popcorn and quickly wash the container out.
Tasty 1.5 Quart Borosilicate Glass Micro-Pop Microwave Popcorn Popper,
Please provide link to the Microwave popper from Walmart?
Better this much cheaper : Great Northern Popcorn Company 83-DT5620 Northern Company GNP BlackGNP Little Bambino 2-1/2 Ounce Retro Style Popcorn Popper, 2.5 Ounce, Black Machine https://a.co/d/iOZxc57
Bought that and have done this before. We now just buy the pre-measured packets and add some extra flavacol.. mmmmmmm extra goodness!
I've been tempted with the pre-measured packets. I'm kinda picky with the kernels, i like the Pop Secret Jumbo the most. I've had good luck with the Mushroom stuff from amazon.

Not gonna lie, diy stuff is way better but for convenience pre-measured with extra flavacol is the way to go.
Get a pot and a lid, put enough coconut oil in the pot to coat it with 1/8 inch of oil on medium high heat. Put one popcorn kernel in there. When it pops, the oil is ready. Coat the bottom of the pot with kernels. Put the lid on, but tip to vent. When the popping slows or stops, you're done. If you want more, use a bigger pot. This will be the best popcorn you've ever had.
Agree with others that you won't use it often because it's a PITA to clean. So much easier to just use a pot you can easily wash out in the sink. This is one of those things that you think you want but won't use.
I make a blend that tastes something like a kettle corn with a little kick. I use Frontier chipotle and mix in salt and powdered sugar to taste. You do not need much of the chipotle spice to get the smoked flavor. I would start with 1 part of the chipotle, 2 parts salt, and maybe 4 parts of the powdered sugar. Add a little corn starch if you make a larger batch to keep it from clumping.
