I have one of these which is IPL and a Tria laser which is diode. Both were bought open box on eBay. The Tria is more effective, but I greatly prefer this one and rarely use the Tria. I love that you can hold down the button and glide with the Braun (although it's much slower than the advertisement video would lead you to believe). I like that it's plugged in as opposed to charging like the Tria because you can use it when you need to without having to babysit the battery level. The Tria's more painful, but again, more effective.

I'm bad about keeping up routines which likely affected the outcome, but the hair has clearly thinned out and takes longer to grow back. While I am sure professional hair removal is more effective, it's also more expensive and requires time to visit the salon. It didn't make me hairless, but I am very satisfied with the results.

Word of advice mainly for women. Changes in hormones can re-stimulate hair growth so keep that in mind. Also, the Braun is very bright. It's like a photo booth. I suggest either closing your eyes or wearing light protection glasses.
For IPL, you do NOT want cordless. A good IPL uses 60+W per flash, and will quickly drain a battery.

The best Braun units (like the 5347) are AMAZINGLY fast, flashing faster than just about anything else. That's also not easily possible for an extended time with a battery.

I have this and it works amazing.

It took about 6 weeks to fully see the results but I barely have to shave anymore. Some spots dont grow back/or are super thin.

I still have some spots that refuse to stop growing but overall I'm super pleased with it and I bought it full price.

For reference I'm light complected with dark brown/black hair so its advertised to work well for me.

Is this just for small areas or could you do a whole back with it on a charge?

The only difference between 5137 and 5117 is beauty pouch color.

Both are old models, which means they don't work on blond hairs.

There's also a difference in beauty pouch material between 5137 on Amazon US and 5137 on Amazon UK, but it's different story.

Can anyone with brown skin (Indian) and dark black hair chime in on how well this has worked for you?
Try a no!no! device. It burns your hair off. Apparently enough heat travels down the hair shaft (before it's burnt) to damage the root. Works on any skin and hair color.

Be aware that this can't be used on darker-skinned people or people with certain hair colors (e.g. blonde/white or red). It is a great product though.

The cheapest $279.99 package is no longer available on Braun
Have to go to Walmart
Unfortunate since you coulda stacked 15% coupon + 5% CB, which is significant at this purchase price
