EDIT: Unfortunately the melanios are no longer listed in this deal, they must have sold out. There are still some quality sticks in this deal but not as good of a bargain as before.

ORIGINAL POST:

CigarPage is currently running a deal on select cigar five packs. The site lists the regular, albeit still discounted prices for each; however, if you add 4 or more to your cart they all drop to $17.49 each. There are some good and not so good deals but the big one imo is the five packs of Oliva Melanio robusto. If all you bought was 4 of the five packs, that's 20 Melanio for $69.96+tax.

You won't get the boxes as they will come in cello wrapped five packs but that's the equivalent of two boxes for less than many online shops sell a single box. Plus much less than they retail in any B&M.

Some variation of this deal happens every few months and I try to stock up each time.

Hey guys, I'm a pretty casual cigar smoker, but i usually enjoy lighter cigars. I tend to gravitate towards Connecticut wrappers. Recommendations?

Any recommendations on a mild cigar from this list? I am new to cigars and I want to try a full and a mild to see what I prefer.

This is a great deal on a great cigar. These Oliva series v Melanio cigars are one of my favorites; I've honestly never smoked a bad one. At less than $4 a stick, you wont find a better deal for a consistently great burning, great smoking cigar than this.

The only problem with first timers buying these would be setting the bar so high. In my opinion you almost need to smoke some really garbage cigars, before you can truly start appreciating great cigars like these Melanio's.

I honestly consider these melanio's to be a pretty mild, smooth smoke. I know everyone has different tastes and opinions on what exactly "mild" is, but they definitely aren't harsh by any means.

I'm personally not a fan of most Connecticut cigars, because in general they just seem too light, and just don't seem to have much flavor but I have smoked some really good Connecticut's in the past. So if you're after a mild smoke, maybe start looking at some different Connecticut's. one of the recent connecticuts that I tried and liked was the Liga Undercrown shade, but its also considered a Medium flavored cigar which is probably the reason I liked it. And of course it's not one of the cigars available in this deal.

At the other end of the spectrum, in the full flavor category. Just about the strongest flavored cigar that I've enjoyed in the past, the Joya de Nicaragua Antano is pretty good, but it packs a punch. The antano is also no where near, the level of good smoking consistency of these Melanio's.

They really aren't strong. These are though a step above in flavor from the extra mild stuff. Trust me, give these a try, if your new to smoking these will likely be your new favorite. I've been smoking cigars regularly for over a decade, my current go to being the liga privada no 9, a much stronger cigar then the Melanio, yet I still enjoy the Melanio, all these years later. Read the post above as well, he's not wrong.

Funny we probably have the same taste. I also avoid Connecticut's these days, but have gone through many under crown shades because they are usually lumped in with other drew estate bundles. Like you I don't mind the shade, and find it to have more flavor and body then most Connecticut's, but I believe this is because its not blended like a traditional Connecticut, only having a Connecticut wrapper, with a standard body and flavor binder and filler.

Well that makes since then. I didn't look into the construction because I got it in a drew estate bundle that came free with a box of Liga Undercrowns (one of my other favorite go to cigars).

Oliva masters blend 3, and melanio v.

Mild new world cigars are terrible. Slowly move towards medium to medium full by smoking after a big meal, and taking your time. After you've gotten used to cigars and still want the occasional smoke in the morning with your coffee..hate to say it but cubans are the only mild cigars I've enjoyed. They're pretty much my go to for the occassional early morning weekemd smokes.

Thank you. But I can't. I still have 400 left and need to bring it down to 50 before buying more. I hate these deals. 😂
Bah, just think of it as unintentional aging of your sticks. I keep ordering. Hell you never know when tobacco taxes will skyrocket like in new York.... I am grateful that we have reasonable prices in cigars. I was Hong Kong a few months back and all of the cigar lounges were great, but average cigar prices were $40-60 a stick....
