This is a great deal for someone looking for a budget home theater setup. I have a 1080p Optoma projector that I've been using since 2011. I've had to replace the bulb once (after 10 years), but it's otherwise been very reliable.

You're not going to get the same picture quality as you would from a new OLED, but when it comes to watching movies, there's no substitute for size. Movies are filmed to be seen on a gigantic screen at the movie theater. You will never feel as immersed in a movie as you will with a projector-sized screen and loud speakers.

I have the previous generation UHD30, of which this is a very incremental improvement. It's permanently mounted in a theatre setup, and I use it all the time, mostly for gaming. A few things to note:

- Color banding can be an issue, it seems to be more picky than some other units with the bitrate/encoding, and you may need to fiddle with your AVR or individual sources
- It doesn't support HDMI-CEC or auto signal on, so automation is a bit of a pain. It does support auto power on, and I've gotten by with a smart plug as a trigger.

Specs wise looks good and within my spend budget. Little concerned on Optoma's general white dead pixel issues. Any idea whether this model also suffers from same issue?

HDMI 2.0. Can only get 4K @ 60hz on console, not 120hz or faster.

Dead pixels are caused by failing mirrors on the DLP DMD chips that are used in these things. There was a widespread issue with dead pixels on cheaper DMD chips, but that was 10 years ago. As far as I know, while dead pixels can happen still, it's pretty rare. Are you referring to something more recent?
