Why the negs? Looks like a good solid deal for a good solid ThinkPad
It isn't very upgradable / serviceable, with a processor from 2 generations ago, rather dim display, low-res webcam. The $550 HP EliteBook deals around the holidays with Ryzen 6000 were far superior in every way. Of course there's no time machine, but a deal this ain't.

This processor and ram combination doesnt work above a 500 price point. Even though the screen is really a superior specification, and it has great accessory ports (TB 4 etc) that processing capacity isnt going to provide the crisp experience you would expect at this price.

haha i prefer low res web cam. There is no need for everyone to see every pore of my face on zoom calls . in fairness the screen is IPS and the anti glare tech is legit.

I'd rather use the option in Zoom to lower the resolution.

Valid point on processor being old, but only one generation old, right? Also Comparing HP to Thinkpad is like comparing Ford to Mercedes.
IPS anti-glare is huge plus.
Agree that at 800, it's mildly a deal. 700 or below would have been burning.

Oh yes, just checked and found that some 13th gen laptops are available now. Not on Thinkpads or prosumer class laptops though. They are still upto 12th gen.

EliteBooks are HP's top-of-the-line business laptops, not in anyway comparable to consumer lines like Pavilion or Envy. I used to be a ThinkPad fan, but HP now has better upgradability on most of their lineup, and I prefer aluminum to Lenovo's smudge magnets.
As for processors - let's call it 1.5 generations old, but anyway it doesn't matter, as even Intel's 13th gen is only catching up in performance to what AMD released 2 years ago - and in efficiency Intel remains behind. I don't understand why anybody would pay $800 for an Intel laptop these days.
