Butcher block countertop if you want wood, tons of options from your local home improvement stores. Ikea also has some laminate or veneer tops which seem okay, but if you have a tiny bit of woodworking skill I'd go butcher block.

I have this butcher block [ikea.com]. Do you think this, plus a few monitors would be too heavy for this frame?

Honestly tired of these deals.. I feel like they keep blowing them out of the water because they have been out of table tops for 8+ months at this point. Between finding a local butcher block desktop you may as well just get one of the better brands standing desks as a complete set.

Wouldnt worry about the frame as much as I would that top.. its a veneer, its not solid wood. It SHOULD hold, but like everything made ikea recently its compressed paper on the inside.

For an extra $180 I decided to get the Fully Jarvis (allows for more weight and better warranty), and got this top from Staples:

Top and frame should arrive next week, so I cannot comment on the quality. The top weights about 100lbs, so I think it will be pretty solid. Good luck!

I have this an love it. For the top I got a 3/4" sheet of MDF and ordered a sheet of Formica from HD. Cut to desired size of your desk (went a nice and deep 32"x72"), contact cement the Formica on and trim it out in some 1x2 oak trim. Routed a small chamfer to take sharp edge off. What I love about this is you can make it the exact size you want, Formica is available in a dizzying array of colors and prints, and has a nice subtle texture to it that makes it a fantastic writing surface as well as a perfect mouse surface (not having a mouse pad makes for a really clean desk setup).

I picked up one of these and love it. Super sturdy. I'm using an Ikea butcher block countertop as the desk top.

I don't live near an IKEA, so as I was researching options for tops, I found this at Staples for around $112 before tax, with different color options: https://www.staples.com/hon-mod-6...t_24484895

I want to buy one, but I feel like a 1 year warranty is way too short.

Check your local habit for humanity restore. Saw a couple of hardwood options for table tops there that were actually brand new

about a year ago i bought a rubberwood butcherblock countertop from Lowes.com, 5'x30", 1.5" thick, for $136. Staining and sealing it myself ended up being very problematic -- the rubberwood had spots that didn't take stain very well (sanded a layer off and that helped about 70%), and poly seal is super thick and had to be diluted a LOT with mineral spirits. If I had to do it again I'd go down to 1" thick, 1.5" feels excessive.
