They probably do that for warranty reasons. That way all the issues belong to the current user/buyer.

I saw a note on their website just now and that might be cause of the stock not showing up:

I hear you but there aren't many mfr choices left.
Seagate doesn't exactly have clean hands either.

Guys..can you please suggest 1-2 models for qnap nas. After a certain age grey cells stop working and the info is greatly appreciated. Also for people who have bought from here, any do's dont's about checking before installing? I don't have a desktop any more but a number of laptops that I can put to use for long term testing. I am looking for 4 hdds at least.

Go to https://serverpartdeals.com/colle...ard-drives and check SATA HDD(I assume you are using SATA interface). To me, just grab HGST HC530/HC550/HC560 or Seagate Exos X18/X20, 16T-20T based on the price and availability. I won't consider Seagate Exos X14 refurb as they have very high failure rates.
