For the love of all that is good in this world. Update that drive before you throw any data on it. There is a bug that is fixed with the firmware upgrade, but you must download the Samsung upgrade tool and upgrade the firmware before it breaks.

Breaks in like, one min, you have data, the next, you do not have data.

I have one installed on my machine. Google "980 pro issues" and you will see what I am talking about. Simple fix, but be cautioned.
You can save an additional $18 from Samsung if you have EPP or something like that.

Same price:

Micro Center also has it for $149.99 without heatsink EDIT = appears to be $159.99 unless part of a bundle.

I would avoid this as it's basically first batch of gen 4 drives with history of issues. Better off getting P41 or SN850x.

I just purchased the SN850x and was on the fence about returning it and getting the 980 pro. I'll continue with my install. Thanks

Wouldn't touch Samsung SSDs if they are 50% off these days... It will take at least another two generations of full reliability for me to trust them again.

The best in the game at the moment are WD SN850s (Performance), Seagate Firecuda 520 (TBW Endurance), and SK Hynix P41 (Value/Efficiency).

With the new firmware there really good. The main issue was with the older firmware but they have been shipping with new firmware for awhile now.
I ordered a 1tb one and it already had the new firmware installed. Just make sure you check.
