Yeah I've heard very mixed things(OK, mostly negative) about their packaging on refurbs. But I'm not relying on it, if it comes broken then it'll go back.

Even new from a retailer, the larger tools from Ryobi/Rigid are really poor quality for the price.

I have to disagree with the Ridgid part here at least. Their contractor table saw (cast iron top) and joiner have been great tools for many years. I have a Ridgid contractor table saw that's been flawless for 15 years. I also have a Ridgid planer, joiner and wet saw. No complaints with any of them.
