Nope, Iris. But, like most ultrabooks, it's not targeted at gamers or creators.

Don't buy 11th gen Intel processor and below. The 12th gen is so stupidly fast (from benchmark it's around 50% - 70% faster than comparable processors from 11th gen), which makes it pointless and waste of money to buy these outdated laptops.

I agree, Intel 11th gen and early should be avoided now. I have an Intel 1240p Asus OLED laptop. I would have liked it to be an AMD Ryzen CPU for lower heat and better battery life, but a good deal is a good deal.

And next year about this time, when the 12th gens are "pointless and a waste of money to buy outdated...." and then the year after that with the 13th gens...I mean you do realize that's how it works with technology discounts, right? This laptop is literally less than half the price of something comparable with a 12th gen i7 or the latest AMD chips. Super high quality build, a screen that's still right up there with anything today, a 1TB SSD, 16 GB ram, 3:2 screen, WIFI 6, extremely thin, for $699. For what a college student needs, this is like buying a 2020 BMW M3 with basically no miles on it for 60% off sticker.

So you're not familiar with Intel's change in chip architecture huh? 11gen to 12gen is a quantum leap in performance metrics. Sure this is a good deal. But paying half the price for half the processing power isn't 'comparable'.

You are buying more than just the CPU.

And that is what they said about going from 10th to 11th gen.

Cmon, I am using an 8th gen laptop and it is more than fast enough. Even a 6th gen is fine for web browsing, etc which is what 80% use for laptops.

Do you really need the latest and greatest? Are you playing games on this? Doing 4k movie editing? mining crypto? I would say 90+% of people looking into this are doing none of these.

processor speed is literally the least of my worries when it comes to laptop shopping except if it happens to be a MAJOR power hog. Screen, memory, and build quality along with usb-c charging, backlit keyboard, and weight.

I would say that's what 75% of us are looking for.

the only thing holding me back is refurbished.

If this was brand new, it would be a buy.

Benchmarks that are entirely pointless for the average user? 🙄

Most people just browse, type a few documents, and watch shows/listen to music. This is definitely not a gaming laptop either

Its not about processor power/speed my dude, its about processor efficiency/heat.(esp when talking about laptops and even more so when were talking about ultrabooks) Efficient and cool running means great battery life, older hotter running chips means less than great battery life.

In theory yes. And yet in ultrabooks 12th Gen threads I see the same complaints. This runs hot, this is has poor battery life, this throttles like crazy. Like I said, I have no issues with speed or battery life in my lga gram 8th gen laptop. It's 2.2 lbs so definitely qualifies as an ulttabook. Lot of times these theoretical stuff is just that, theoretical.

This does seem a little pricey for a 11th gen, but performance wise it's still fine for most people who would buy a machine like this. 11th gen Intel is on 10nm just like 12th gen so it's not like your going to a bigger less efficient chip like you would with 10th gen Intel and older. And you still get the Iris Xe graphics. If it's priced right there's nothing wrong with 11th gen laptop cpus.

When 12th Gen laptops were hitting the market, I opted to save money by buying my wife and I discounted 11th Gen laptops, specifically the asus flip s 4K oled 16gb/1tb $1k and the asus flip FHD oled 16gb/1tb $700. Am very happy with these laptops and have no issues (except if I try to play guild wars 2 on the s with 4K resolution, and without being docked to my eGPU). Without an eGPU, keep it to 1080p or equivalent and settings at low for casual gaming. If you demand more, you're looking into the wrong type of laptop.

My work issued laptop is a 12th Gen i7 and although I don't (can't) game on it, all of these laptops are work equally well.

My plan now is to buy a slightly older generation, but upgrade more often.
