Sure you can. Section 179 IRS code allows 100% writedown of computer purchases first year they do not discern between new, used, or refurbs. That being said I buy them for resale. I own a computer store that sells new and refurbished computers. We offer computers from $99 to $50,000 servers. We've been in business for 28 years. By the way my first intern job out of high school was for the IRS in Holtsville, NY. I've been writing code since the mid-70's. Finally opened my first store in 1995. For the record most of my business is B to B. Most love refurbs..everyone wants to cost cut..I deal to government, non-profits, schools, etc. Most consumer model in the lower price ranges are built like crud. These are professional workstations and/or buiness models used in banks, hospitals, the military..completely different build quality. On this model--to get new about $1500 per or if you have folks doing 2D cad or solidworks -- you can buy 5-6 of these. Dell also knows they are going to see them again at end of lease--built better. Precisions, Latitudes are built completely different then Inspiron and Vostro. Same at HP. Probook, Elitebook, Zbook vs. Pavilion. Lenovo Thinkpad vs. Ideapad.

Upvoted, and would buy one if I didn't already have one. This is a commercial quality portable workstation, and I plan to get another 10 years out of mine as a home office machine.
Also... These usually come in excellent shape. Dell tends to be quite conservative with the condition description in my experience.

Yes. Absolutely. I've bought these several times for resale and frequently upgrade storage. I usually use the Crucial website to check upgrades. It's 95% accurate

I can't speak to the long term longevity of this laptop but it definitely doesn't seem obsolete to me. I picked one up a few weeks ago on the last Slickdeals post, and it has blown me away with its speed and power. I mostly use it for music production, but the Quadro M2200 graphics card is surprisingly decent for a bit of gaming, too. At the price point, I don't think you can come -close- to beating this laptop. Though, that said, if you're looking for something light and sleek to tot around, this is probably not the laptop you're looking for. It's heavy as hell.

Can anyone recommend a docking bay that works for this laptop? I keep finding conflicting info when I search google about it.
