ANC can be great and is getting better, but no matter how good it is it will always sacrifice some level of purity in your signal. For most casual musicians, podcasters, or commentating, there's nothing wrong with that. ANC works great if your recording space is prone to constant ambient noise from all over...HVAC being the biggest culprit.
IMO this is a a better option for recording vocals that needs a dryer signals so the user has more control over the reverb/delay in the mix. It would work great if the user is in a particular solid/echoey room, like basements or apartments with hardwood floors. It obviously won't eliminate all of the reverb, but gets it to a manageable level. Plus, a little bit of natural room reverb is what makes the mix unique!
At $20 I think this is a great buy, but if you already have ANC and it works for you, the real SD is saving your money.

Mics have ANC and even the cheapest mics sounds unbelievably excellent as-is.
I watched some of the youtube video reviews on similar noise shields and the noticeable improvements are marginal if any...
