I have had 2 of my mine developed this issue where the toothbrush make loud rattle noise within a few months of use. After some research, it appears to be a common issue. I don't know know if it was an intentional design flaw (loose screw) but it's a really easy fix. If this happen to you, please don't throw the toothbrush away.

Here's a YouTube video that show you the easy way to fix and correct it going forward with some Loc-tite.

I have had the outgoing model for years, and I bought the new model to have a second for traveling without knowing the difference. Big mistake - the new model has two brushing modes, and neither mode is close to the brushing power of the outgoing model. I have both and it's a night and day difference between the two.
Or dip it in bleach or hydrogen peroxide to kill the germ.

As for the battery, since they are all trying to save the planet by having none removable battery so to fill the landfill faster.

Why is this outgoing model better than the current one? The only fact I see now is the price and that's not enough to justify the purchase. Maybe I overlooked something else.

Thanks OP. This was on FP a month ago with more than 70 thumb ups:

I'm surprised this hasn't gotten any love yet. What gives? Just wondering.

Philips uses hypersonic technology while Oral B just vibrates the brush. The latter has more of a potential to irritate your gums.

These build up gunk too. Supposed to clean it weekly.

Just FYI, you are suppose to detach toothbrush head and clean it it regularly.
Most dentists would say Oral B units are better than Sonicare (but sonicare better than regular toothbrush).
I like Sonicare better because of thinner brush heads.

Most people say that Sonicare vibrates, and oral B oscillates.
