Thank you doctor, for putting the GPU wattage in the title, and **** Nvidia for dropping the Max-Q designator
when gaming on 15in screen, 1080p is perfect and any more only degrades performance with little improvement. The real crime here is the bezel...its like from 1990

This laptop is a steal. I jumped on the last deal with the same specs and am very happy with it. The screen is very accurate and bright, the thermal design is much quieter than my Asus gaming laptop, and the overall design doesn't scream Gamer Laptop. Plus, the Intel CPU doesn't break a sweat on any game so far. Returnal benchmarks show utilization consistently under 10%

Nonsense. This is an excellent display with great specs, unlike most of the budget machines on here. Is the 1080p what is bothering you?

This is the only review I could find that has this screen: https://www.trustedreviews.com/re...tro-5-2022

Nonsense? Everything else on here could run a 1440 screen easily. But it isn't just that anyway. It's the response. 3ms is pretty bad on a laptop with these specs. I can easily live with the 1080. The nits are pretty bottom of the barrel with these specs as well. Overall this is a fine laptop, and there is nothing "wrong" with the screen, that is just the lowest common denominator.

This was just available for the same price. I expect we will see this or something as good or even better soon.

Even the Max-Q label didn't tell the full story. Not surprised they dropped it tbh.

I'm not in the market right now, but if I were looking for this class laptop, I would seriously consider this model. I would probably compare this with the Legion 15i (non-Pro) that is currently being offered at Costco for $100 more. That one has a better screen but is 3060. Since I can always get an external monitor if I wanted a better screen later, I would rather take the 3070 with this Acer and save the money for a monitor later.

Costco does give you one extra year of warranty (Citi Costco no longer offers the double warranty), but you can get that with most credit cards these days anyway.

For the debate on the screen resolution, I do own a 16" gaming laptop with a 1440p screen which of course cost more than this Acer. While the higher rez does not hurt, I don't think it is a deal breaker unless you are so used to 1440p on this size screen that going back to 1080p is unthinkable. I think you need a bigger screen to really take advantage of 1440p (on my 1440p laptop I need to scale it 150% to make it really usable).

That Legion, while still plenty viable, has a CPU that is about 1.5 cycles behind in the AMD world, and the i7-12700H in this Acer is quite a bit faster. I have a laptop with the 6800H, and i7-12700H beats it rather handily too.

The real issue is the price point. In this cost zone, you have to compromise somewhere. The compromise may fall along the line of the screen, video card, or CPU. We just have to choose which one matters personally. If we agreed that we could not give up on the GPU...you know what I mean.

(By the way, in the referenced Legion on eBay, you may also be compromising on the vendor reputation. But that's another point altogether)

I checked the specs here: https://store.acer.com/en-us/nitr...LtEALw_wcB

Nowhere it mentions 150w TDP. Also given its 5.5lb weight, there is no way it can handle it.

Still a great deal. Just don't expect too much.

4K needs to be standard on these high spec laptops…
