Glad to see this drop in price.

Just an fyi, your local library may have this in stock to borrow. Mine for example allows switch games on to be borrowed for 1 dollar a week. It would never work out for me as I play a couple of hrs a month, but I'm sure there are plenty of ppl here who can blow through games in about a week

I got this for PS5 as a longtime fan of FF Tactics. I couldn't really get into it. I guess it's a matter of taste but the sprites are hideous, the abilities aren't particularly interesting, the story wasn't doing much for me.

Also came here to post that it's not as good as tactics. Has one of the all-time great end game mechanics though where you can zoom to anywhere in the timeline to recruit characters and get missed unique items.

Has all the elements of a tactics genre RPG. A bit more complex gameplay than Triangle strategy (which i enjoyed also) however less dialogue, which can be good for some. Fun and solid game for this price.

Amazing game and a bit of srpg history. FF Tactics gets the praise for streamlining the formula that Tactics Ogre established (same game director, Mastuno). With 8-12 units to control per battle, the gameplay can feel unnecessarily bloated OR uniquely complex… depends on the person. If the game clicks with you, it has hundreds of hours of content to offer

this is a fun, but time consuming game. not as in the story, the individual battles can take 45 minutes or more.

I bought it for 50 and I'm happy with it. also the sprites look nearly identical to ff tactics (which was amazing)

The game is decent. It is on the harder side as there is a level ceiling for each chapter and the enemies can be 1 or 2 levels above you (ceiling). So you either has to be good at the game or lucky (as there are booster cards pop up in battles. It is time consuming

I've played both Final Fantasy Tactics and Tactics Orge. The game play mechanics is very different from each other and will need you to get use to it aka the loyalty system when defeating enemies. You can't just go hack and slash enemies without your characters having some penalties and leaving your party. You also didn't get a gauge to tell you if the character was about to leave. Someone chime in if they fully resolved this issue.

Is it worth full price? No. At $35 is a start if you really want to play it. You can wait and lowers in price this year like every other game. IMO $35 for a remake of this ps2 to psp game then remade last year on a 2Dish platform is asking a lot.

Game is trash and boring. Do yourself a favor and find the original Shining Force for Sega Genesis (or on one of its many ports). Despite being decades older, it's a lot more fun.

All Sony did was update the graphics on this one. Game menus are arduous, plot is laughably bad (hey do you want to murder civilians and piss off people or let them live?), at least 1-2 turns before anything happens and it's all sow, etc etc. I could find no redeeming qualities to this game.

My initial reaction when I started playing this game was, "Wow it's the same damn game from 13 years ago, just like how I remember it!"
If this is your first time playing it $35 is worth it, but if you've already beaten this game 100 times already it's not worth it

I found FFT broken and easily exploitable. Only true challenge I recall in that game was 1on1 with Wiegraf. TO on the other hand is more balance and much more difficult with emphasis on strategy IE enjoyable IMO.

I completed the original TO on PS1 multiple times and the Reborn version can be harder IMO; especially the bosses. The Finishing Moves is what makes Reborn particularly nasty for me, with most bosses killing units in one hit.

Knights with Phalanx Auto Skill make things somewhat bearable though in Reborn; I use them as hit sponges hoping to bait those nasty Finishing Moves.

Ninjas with bows help too as their auto activate Silence, Poison, Stun debuffs apply to long range weapons. Poison is especially good in Reborn, that and Charm.

Knights, Ninjas plus Poison and Charm are what carried me through the game on the Chaos route; haven't tried getting the other endings yet…
