After watching a documentary on George Westinghouse it would seem that branding budget tvs with such a name is a slap in the face to what this brand used to mean.

Screen quality is average, a 6. I got the BF deal 65 inches for $249.99 last year. TV is been working ok.

Edit: 50k inches was $150, so you are paying $80 more than the last best available deal.

I have this tv and bought it for $150. It's great for the price but the screen quality is more like a 3.

Run away from Westinghouse. The screen blinks on HDMI connections and the sound is like a VOIP over a 56k modem. You must use a sound bar.

Yes but then run away from Onn/TCL/Hisense. My R6 and my buddy's R7 from Hisense didn't even make it 4-5 years. I am using a 2007 Westinghouse TX-42F430S that was the cheapest 1080p and the first one I had didn't make it 5 months, but was replaced under warranty and this one has been going on like almost 15 years now. I can't kill it. Its been through like 5 power surges, 10 moves and one time after a surge it didn't start for like 2-3 hours but then magically it just powered on. Sure the cold cathode tube lighting is uneven and black scenes look awful but color looks fine.

I say buy it even if it isn't made like they are used to because this brand can not be worse than Hisense/TCL/Onn.

I bought the 55" TCL 4 series this past Saturday on BBY's deal of the day for $249.99. It's not as good as my 55" Hisense U6G but pretty decent for $250. I'm guessing this Westinghouse is not as good as the TCL for roughly the same price?

It sounds like the comment from the person you replied to indicated their Westinghouse wasn't working correctly even from day 1. It's one thing for a cheap TV to work well for a couple of years before dying, and another thing for it to not work right from day 2.

Back when Crt monitors were being phased out with lcds in the mid 2000's a lot of people were buying Westinghouse tvs for their computer monitors. They were built really good back then! I'm tempted to get a 32" for guest room. Can't beat $99

These are made by Funai. Please look them up. After a past experience, I avoid this manufacturer.

Unless something has changed recently they are a subsidiary of and manufactured by Tsinghua TongFang. They also manufacture Element and possibly ONN.
