Good drive but SK needs more competitive pricing, they're asking for a premium even @ $170. The 980 Pro is available for $144 via Samsung EPP, and the WD was already mentioned.

Complete with free firmware flaws! I wouldn't buy Samsung before the 980 7 990 firmware bugs were discovered, and I sure as heck wouldn't buy them now.

If I'm planning on building around April-May, is it worth waiting for ssd prices to potentially drop lower or should I buy this now?
I made the mistake of buying early last August, and the price dropped to a new all-time low within two months before my build was ready. Worst case the drive will go on sale at this price again, so I recommend waiting.

It depends on what you need it for and how soon you need it. If there is not downside to wait, then it's in your best interest to do so. Just depends on your risk tolerance or possibly missing out on the drive you are specifically looking for.
I bought one since I missed the last one, but I'll be right there for another one once it hits $120

Came to say the same thing about SK's pricing compared to practically every other brand who's pricing is bargain basement low now and SK pricing is still in the clouds.

If you don't trust the 980 Pro firmware fix, then WD Black is still the better deal @ $160 (especially with certain cashback offers).
But I also don't understand your stated reluctance to buy Samsung drives before these firmware issues came to light -- Samsung had the best drives for years until recently.

Not in this class.
All the other drives in this speed category are more expensive.
This one and the western digital 850x are the cheapest right now.

I just bought the 2Tb SN850X [amazon.com] for $10 less (w/o heatsink), but really tempted by this P41.

I don't need hardware encryption, but it might be a minus for some.
I'm hoping it drops even further within the next 6 months.
SATA S31 looks to be discontinued, they'd rather take the product off than sell it cheap!

I don't have a PS5 but someone has to ask this in every SSD thread and it was overdue here.
