Is there a difference between these and the ones that say Max Output on them?

Yes. The max output provide more amperage and therefore more torque. The regular batteries are plenty in most situations. The max output batteries can be useful when you need more torque for a job. Both batteries work with all Ridgid 18V tools and the max output batteries will provide all of them with higher performance. I have both, but have only been in one situation where I had to swap to the max output battery. The max output batteries replaced the Octane line, and now all the brushless tools are higher performing and you just use the max output batteries to get to that higher performance.

What was the one situation where you had to switch to a max output battery?

Why not. You know Ridgid batteries have Lifetime Warranty? (If bought new from Authorized dealer like Home Depot)

Reason I bought my first set 5-6 years ago. Batteries still work awesome
Just bought 3/8 subcompact impact, 1/2 Impact wrench with the free tool (3/8 rachet wrench)
Smilie Sorry, I'm just tooting my own horn cause I'm so excited (and high)

Well I wanted to know if it going to harm my expensive Makita tools or not by going non-makita batteries.

YES!! I just bought the ridgid 18v set and used the one regular 4ah battery to try and take down the dusk to dawn light that was dead on my garage and it would not budge the broken bolts. I put the MAX 4ah battery in and it broke the metal casing on the light to spin the bolts out! There is a decent difference in certain applications.

I finally got some Maxx output batteries for my Gen5x circular saw. It struggles to cut all the way through a 2x4 on multiple occasions. I'd get 80% through a cut and then the blade would bind and the saw would stop. I could usually manage to cut it with a regular battery but it involved bending the cutoff piece away to avoid the binding so I could finish the cut. I might have been able to change to a newer blade as well but the blade really wasn't that old.

Swapped to the Maxx output battery and it cut through like butter. That is one of the common situations I've come across where the Maxx output battery made a huge difference in a practical application.
