Anyone who has installed these in place of old can recessed lights, how difficult is it for someone with low experience?

It's extremely easy. Just replaced 6 existing can lights with these in about 15 minutes. Unscrew light bulb, Unhook springs holding old trim in place, screw in new socket without light attached. Slide the metal tab tensioners to make them slightly smaller than fully extended (very easy to understand/do when you have a light in your hand). Attach new light, push into place and give it a slight turn to add some extra resistance to keep it flush to the wall.

Anyone have used both these and slim care to share if the slims are worth it?

You are better off with these from home Depot, it has the springs and a lot cheaper, about 16 bunch each when bought in packs of 2

750 lumens is more than enough, 1100 above is an overkill imo and not worth the premium
Just to be clear these are not Hue, and cannot be brought into the Hue app, right?

Have both in my house. Slims were bought recently to install in a room that did not have recessed lights in the ceiling. Once installed, they both function the same as you would expect. I haven't seen the slims on sale though so would have been cheaper for me to buy these and the cans to install.

Wonder if these would survive being install outside in the soffit to light up around the outside of the house?

I'm seeing $55 a light for the 4pk on Amazon which makes it about $8.33 more per light than Costco.

I used damp location cans by Globe and the GU10 bulbs for this. Still going after 3 years. I did 7 of them and haven't lost a light.
