Looking at a range of benchmarks, I didn't see enough of a difference in gaming performance to warrant the premium for AM4 + Ryzen 5600 or LGA 1700 + 12400f when I had checked about a year ago. A $70 z590 and 11400f have been fantastic for me in gaming, general usage, and light productivity when I don't want to boot up my work machine again. I looked at a lot of AM4 ATX boards but even now the mediocre B550's are about $110+ and the X570's are $150+. For heavier productivity workloads, I'd lean towards Intel 12600k or 13th gen for the e cores at current platform pricing unless you get a great AMD bundle deal. In this case, the extra money would be worth it.
Btw, regarding gaming benchmarks: https://www.techpowerup.com/review/intel-core-i5-12400f/23.html [techpowerup.com]
For 1080p:
12400f was normalized to 100% (using DDR5)
11400f was 88%
Ryzen 5600x was 101.4%
Not quite the earth shattering difference people claim between Intel 11th gen and 12th gen/Ryzen 5600x. And at 4K? Only a 3.4% difference between the three CPUs.

There might be some interest in owners of existing 10th/11th generation CPU systems to squeeze a little more performance out of their system(?).
Good luck!
Jon
I'm still amazed they have PS/2 ports. Is the latency that much lower than USB now days?
