I built mine on a flat carport and the roof still didn't line up well even after they sent me a replacement. Other than that it's relatively solid and pretty easy to build. I built it by myself in 8-10 hours.

The monthly Costco book is now a "front page deal" on Slickdeals?

What a joke! This site has completely gone to hell since it was bought by Goldman Sachs.

Question regarding the firman generator.
I have generator transfer switch at my place. Is there a way that it I connect to the transfer switch that takes NEMA L14-20R?
Could you make it work? Yeah, but is it legit? No.

That generator only outputs 120V. In fact, it's tough to find an inverter that outputs 240V because by the time the kW output gets to the size that people would expect 240V, inverters are often far too expensive.

So the generator only has a TT-30R which is a 30amp 120V socket. Your L14-20R is a 20amp 240 locking socket. The only way you could connect the two would be to split the hot from the generator to both of the 240 hot legs. In the panel you'd have to shut off ALL 240V appliances (double breakers), and the generator would be supplying 120V across each bus to the neutral, just not 240V between buses. So, all your 120V stuff would work just fine (provided you didn't overload the generator (it's really only rated for 26A continuous)), but I question if that setup is legit. If I were in a bind and needed power I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Practically though, only a 20A hookup is lame. Not sure what in the hell you could really run on that.

Are you sure you have L14-20P not L14-30P on the transfer switch? The Reliance transfer kit I come with L14-30 port but they can ship the L14-20 port for free if it is needed. You can replace the port as long as you have cable with appropriate gauge connected. In 120V/240V transfer switch, the 4-wire input will split into the two groups of circuits with one feeded by one live line of one phase to provide 120V. The circuits that are connected to both side would have the two 120V phases provide the 240V power. With this 120V (actually 125V) generator, you can use a TT-30P to L14-30R adapter cable which will have the live line from from the generator connected to the 2 live wires in L14-30 and it will feed into both side of the transfer switch. As a result, you will only get one phase 120V in all circuits. So make sure you don't have any 240V circuit on the transfer switch or it will only get 120V.
If you want to keep using the 20A port, you can also use a 5-20P to L14-20R adapter cable to hook up the generator to your transfer switch, but you are not using the full capacity of the generator as it can output >25A through the TT-30 port.

It is not difficult to find 240V inverter generator anymore. There are quite a few released last year at ~$1000-$2000 with >8000W output. I have watched a few review videos on Youtube last year and they are available on Amazon.

I didn't say difficult, I said expensive, and that's per kw.

It's difficult to compare pricing as you'll not find both non- and inverter gens that are the exact same besides the inverter portion, but on Amazon they are selling a 9.375/7.5kW standard gen [amazon.com] for $1000 (it has remote functionality too), and the same brand of generator but inverter, 8.75/7.0kW [amazon.com] for $1125.

That's $133/kw vs. $160/kw.

Now, that's for a reputable brand. If you really didn't care what brand it was, there's a Westinghouse 12.5/9.5kw generator [amazon.com] with remote start and dual fuel for $1000 ($105/kw).

There is a difference in power quality amongst brands on "regular" generators, I think it's safe to assume that carries over to inverters as well.

Of course I am talking only about inverter generator. There are always cheap generator with 240V otherwise. It used to be >>$2k for an inverter generator with 240V output. Now it is much more affordable. If one is going to hook it up to a transfer switch, a $2000 dual fuel close frame 9000W inverter generator is not expensive at all. A 4500W dual fuel inverter generator without 240V is often near $1000 anyway. It does not make sense to compare with conventional open frame generator in cost anyway.

Yeah it does (make sense to compare cost). They are competing technologies. Inverters have generally been limited to lower kw's due to cost prohibition and for that they typically haven't included 240V (e.g. why have a 240V socket on a 4kw generator? What 240V appliance is ONLY going to eat 15A?). The cost is coming down, as it is for all generators. Plus, there are other bells and whistles being added - dual or tri fuel options, remote start, etc etc.

Ultimately if someone is in the market for a generator, the calculation being made is - is an inverter worth the added cost over traditional? It seems that the "THD boogeyman" is still being used despite zero practical evidence that high THD is harmful in the time scales in which generators are used, or for today's technologies. If you're going to buy inverter, do it for the reduced fuel consumption and noise, not for lower THD, provided the upcharge isn't huge.

Is this supposed to be a good deal with Zenni and eye buy direct existing lol

WAREHOUSE-ONLY
BUY ONE PAIR of prescription eyeglasses AND GET $50 OFF EACH additional pair of prescription eyeglasses.
Costco now accepts most vision insurance plans. Not valid with any other promotion. Selection varies by location. Current prescription required. Order transaction must occur on the same day. EACH pair of eyeglasses (new frame and lenses) must be for the same individual.

Free for me. I actually make money on my membership after the 4% cashback. Plus, Costco is cheaper than the closest grocery markets near me and is higher quality.

No, you're not "making" any money. If you were making money, you could show us how spending $120 for the executive membership and costco Citi card gives you $120.01+ back in benefits without going into Costco or using the card.

It does not.

Sure, you spend a ton of money at Costco in the warehouse, travel, gas, etc, you can net greater than the $120, but you're not "making money". Costco (and Citi) have done the math. I'm speculating that there is also some level of predatory terms in that your Citi reward check is partly coming from shoppers that are unable to pay off their balances.

The 30 day price adjustment (PA) policy is YMMV. I can't find it in writing anywhere except for online purchases. In-club seems to depend on the CS you get. I've PA'd stuff 40+ days without issue, and I've also had "the one guy" that gave me an earful for being at 31-32 days. Seriously dude, I'm going to get my way, there's no need to be sanctimonious.

I've never worked at Costco, but I believe it's in the Costco corporate rule book that the Warehouse manager (the one that really banks $$$) is the only one that has the authority to deny a return.

My Costco had the cat litter just last week, suddenly this ad came out and they are sold out. Is that normal? Should I expect more before the sale ends?

Did the staff say it was sold out in the system? I've seen Costco move their crap all over the store for sales and away from where it's normally stocked. This is the part where I hate "the hunt" aspect of Costco, and they've 100% lost sales with me b/c I can't find the product. Though, the bean counters in Washington probably see greater sales from the hunt than mine and like-minded lost sales.

It's very funny to me every month there are people complaining about these posts. While I'll agree some ads can be lackluster, they are really just informative. If I go to Costco this week, it's nice to know what will be on sale coming up. I NEVER get the AD before someone else is nice enough to post it here.
Slick deals gained popularity because users would post 'slick' deals on products. Sale books were frowned upon since there weren't always good deals and it was seen as disguised marketing since it was essentially advertising for a business rather than an actual deal.

Sale books posts like these also tend to trigger alerts that aren't actually relevant or deals.

I agree completely. They lasted 1 winter on daughter's Explorer. Installing new wipers in the middle of winter makes me wish I'd paid 10x more for better blades.
