Don't use your reward certificate to buy this, you don't get 2% cash back from membership and 2% from Citi card (if you got one) from using the certificate, just buy a cheapest item and at the checkout the cashier will give you the cash back.
At this point just wait for 16K. It's right around the corner.
Hate to break it to you but that's exactly how buying tech works.

Back and forth as in do I buy it or not. It only went down because of the announcement of nextgen TVs per a Best Buy rep. I'm trying to decide if I want to spend this much money when I know in the next couple of years 8K will come down in price and I'll be right back in the situation making me feel like I need to upgrade my TV. 10 years ago I bought a 1080P TV because 4K was too expensive. now I'm literally in the exact same scenario where 8K is too expensive so I will just buy a 4K TV. Question is do I buy $1000 TV or buy a cheaper brand and hope it lasts me another 5+ years then upgrade to 8K.
Wouldn't it be a worse position to have an 8K TV in 2023 and having to pay the assumed premium for a model that upscales 4K well enough that you won't be lamenting the wait time for the market to have more 8K content available.
Did they just go down to this price? I was at my local Costco on saturday and the 65" was still over 1k....Time to pull out the rewards certificate 🐸☕️

Yes, this just dropped in price on Monday. On Sunday, the X90CK was normal price both online and in-store.

How is it 5 years? Didn't Citi end the 2 year warranty extension?

I believe it's 2-year warranty from Sony, and then the addtional 3 years on top of that from AllState.
1st Year is through manufacturer, 2nd Year through Costco concierge (nothing to do with any CC), Years 3-5 is from the Allstate bundle. This is not for every TV from Costco, but the ones that include the Allstate insurance.

I mean.... 10 years ago. That's ages in tech. It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to upgrade your TV every 10ish years. If you think you're gonna find some magic bullet where you buy tech and it's perfect and remains relevant for decades, that's just not going to happen. You just have to decide if you want to pay a reasonable price and be a tad behind, or pay through the teeth to have the latest tech and be moderately future proof (but still have to upgrade every 10ish years if you want something modern). I will say this: TVs are so good nowadays that nobody is going to be hyper critical if you don't have the latest. It's not the same gap as when CRTs were shifting to flat panels.

Guessing the C in X90CK may be for Costco? have alerts set for X90K but it didn't go off because of the C in the title?
