Discover Card just announced April-June 2023 Cash Back categories. You can enroll now to begin saving NEXT month at Restaurants & Wholesale Clubs.

Pro tip: Costco.com accepts Discover, where you can buy Shop cards which can be spent in physical clubs where Discover isn't accepted. Also Restaurants commonly run Mother's/Father's Day gift card promos during Q2.

It was always necessary to enroll to earn, but this is the first year that I can remember where they didn't announce the full calendar far in advance.

Okay, so, I can already use Discover cashback to buy Walmart gift cards and plan to use them at Sam's for a swing set. This basically comes to 5% off due to the bonus gc.
If I understand it correctly, this is the better way to go since using Discover to pay would incur the 2-3% processing fee, correct?

Additionally, I only have a few months on my membership and it's currently only $9 to get the Plus membership for the remaining time. This adds 2% back in Sam's cash.

I doubt those private sellers will accept credit card payments. I assume those are always cash only deals. I guess I should have expanded my point that you cannot purchase a firearm with a credit card anonymously.

I feel like they need to up the quarterly cap on the 5%. $1500 is only $500/month. At least $2000 would be a good start.

I want to say when they first started it like 15 years ago it was more like $2500. IIRC their very first quarter bonus was medical payments and I just so happened to have some major dental work scheduled so I prepaid for it to capture the whole $125 (5% of $2500).

Yes..., however they may still have a policy that you must use the entire card balance in one purchase.

Before I became a member, I once used a $100 shop card someone gave me to buy $20 worth of goods at Costco. They forced me to cash it out and gave me a hard time about even keeping the empty card. I had planned to use it to pick up meat or dessert on rare occasion. Can't do that. That and several other bad experiences with them turned me off Costco for years.
