FIDO U2F is the older protocol. The newer protocol is called FIDO2, which includes FIDO U2F and added a few other stuff for passwordless auth. For 2FA the FIDO U2F is sufficient, but it won't give you passwordless.

Great idea! If you have a laptop with plenty of USB-A ports but no Windows hello devices, this would be ideal. Amazon reviews are 3.9/5.

If your purpose is to unlock a Windows machine quickly and easily then I wanted to throw out an alternative recommendation:

Great find and great price on this post, but after thinking about it and realizing how often I use my phone versus my computer I realized I probably wouldn't use it much except for logging into my computer, hence the above suggestion.

It would go on sale shortly after I buy one... It's been working great though. Stuck it in a port on the side of my monitor so login is nice and easy now.

Yes. Afaik it will just log you into a specific computer that you have it set up with. Doesn't do anything else.

I use one of these fingerprint unlock on my Lenovo Legion 5 Pro (just a Chinese knockoff not this particular one) and found it's super convenience vs entering my password/passcode everytime.
