These bikes are made by Joy Ride bikes (manufacturer of the licensed Hurley brand ebikes).
Two biggest problems with these bikes:
1. Quality is terrible on these bikes. Very poor design and very poor components used. Break down constantly.
2. Ride quality is moderate at best. Not fun to ride. More fun to just ride a standard acoustic bike.
Sorry if I was too harsh just looking out for fellow slickdealers.
Paid $1200 for the Big Swell last fall. I think it's a great deal at $975 if that's the style of bike you're looking for. I ride 4 miles RT everyday for work. Quality isn't the greatest. These bikes might be best suited for those with a little bit of mechanical skill especially due to the lack of dealer support. Notice for anybody getting any of these bikes. Please check every nut and bolt for proper tightness. My brake rotors were barely hanging on. Could be dangerous at the speeds these go. I added blue thread locker and torqued down all brake rotor bolts.
You are better off. Just looking on craigslist or facebook marketplace for a username. Brand e-bike. You can get some nice name brand ones for a little bit under $1,000 which has really good components and will last you a lot longer than these poorly made ones.

We got the Hurley Hang 5 last August when it was on sale direct from Joy Ride bikes. As of two weeks ago, it is now inoperable with a "E1" error code. The quality is definitely sub-par, so be aware of that before buying. Also, customer service is non-existent.

I actually bought the Carve last year and pretty happy with it after upgrading components: tires, tubes & seat.
Hmm it said 5'2" so I bought it. We're looking for a casual weekend bike so I've seen some quality concerns here but hopefully it won't get enough use to experience that.

Yeah but generally medium size bikes are more at the higher end of their range they say, I could be wrong
I purchased that Amped ST last time and I am overjoyed with it. It's my go to grocery run bike. Came very well assembled and I get the actual 20 mile range. Throttle, LCD, front light. Good brakes right out of the box, very cushy ride which really surprised me so what's not to like? I currently own 2 Hyper ebikes, Specialized and Cannondale bikes so I've got a little experience a year in.
Oh, and I wound up getting $60 back from Woot so paid actual $208 plus tax. 30 for the inaccurate description about the fenders and another 30 cause it had a tiny 0bit of paint damage from shipping. A disposable ebike basically.
I've had the Hurley carve for awhile now and enjoy it very much. Haven't had one issue. Able to attach a rear seat for my son and couldn't be happier…until his ass can ride his own bike. But satisfied customer here!

Have you purchased and used these bikes? Is this just fear mongeribg from stuff you've read?
Cheap bikes have garbage QC but the ones they don't fark up are usually pretty solid. That's my experience.

Honestly it might be slightly too big for her
