Looks like they've got a few sizes of the non-Omni Heat ones too. Unless you are below freezing (or you are sitting still), it's probably better to forego the Omni-Heat so your feet don't sweat. Omni-Heat are basically plastic-foil dots adhered to the inner. It's warm because a plastic trash bag would be warm. it's breathable because the dots are not a continuous layer. As for the heat reflectivity of the material, that seems sort of dubious, but I'm not sure on that.

EDIT: Nevermind. The code won't work on the ones without Omni-Heat. I got a pair for $33 on a previous deal at Amazon. They are very good for the money and well worth $48 if you need some.

These Keen boots are on sale on Amazon, which makes then just a little cheaper than the Timberlands. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...0DER&psc=1

I got Omni heat boots at Christmas and I'm really impressed with how warm they are (I shoveled on a -20 wind-chill day and my feet felt not the least bit cold). But I've also had the experience of wearing them to my office job and having to take them off at my desk because my feet were too warm. Certainly a nice thing to have for $50, living in Colorado, but non-Omni heat would probably be more versatile, as you say.

Omni heat is based on mylar found in light weight emergency wraps to prevent hypothermia and used in NASA for space blankets. Campers usually don't sleep in myler because it's noisy, does not breath well, nor is it durable and tears easily. Columbia's version doesn't make sounds and they seem to have solved the durability issue. I bought an omni heat puffer vest but returned it due to fitting (too long).

It's similar to "Mylar", which is a brand name of polyester (plastic). It certainly works, and it is a cheap price point, but I prefer the idea of truly breathable membrane. Columbia Omni-Heat dots are actually not breathable. It is the voids that allow some air flow.

With that said, at this price, these are great boots.
