I post about this every time I see these on sale so apologies if you've seen it before, but I bought the Juice 5 in one of the sales several months ago and after a couple weeks of riding it the steering column snapped, sending me flying into the street. May have just been a dud, but considering this could have been fatal, I just want to warn people whenever I can. There are more tried and true e-scooter brands out there that (hopefully) won't potentially kill you.

It didn't break at the hinge either; the metal column itself snapped. No idea what could have caused that since I wasn't doing anything crazy, just riding it down a sidewalk and braking before getting to an intersection. And again, after only a couple weeks of riding it.
People in cities actually use bikes as transportation, not just as entertainment. Regularly pedaling for several/dozens of miles is in fact tiring, and you don't always want to be sweaty and tired when you arrive at work, school, the store, whatever.

Even if you are just buying a bike for fun, a bike with an electric motor is, well, way more fun to most people. Nobody is buying an ebike to "virtue signal", that is just something you've concocted to somehow devalue a normal and practical choice people are making. People bike for transportation, personal enjoyment, to get outdoors and move around, or to save money.

And ebikes are cheap, both to purchase and operate. If you really go full slickdealer and crunch the numbers, just replacing the additional calories burned while biking (~40 calories per mile) is a lot more expensive than charging an ebike (~1kwh per 25-40 miles, generally less than 1 cent per mile).
I purchased the hurley Laguna back in August during the Joy Ride Bikes sale for approx. $840. My wife later purchased the lectric XP 2.0 (now 3.0) Step Thru for $999. There isn't anything wrong with the Hurley Laguna and I was happy to ride it around the area... I felt like a kid again with having an E-Bike. Anything that gets you off the couch is a great thing IMO.

My reason for bringing this up is when comparing the two bikes the build quality/ support model for the lectric bike is better for just a little bit more money. Some points include higher wattage motor, more accessories, faster support/ shipping, better documentation, and free upgrades during sales (large seat/ suspension seat post).

I don't think you will go wrong with any E-Bike but I am offering alternatives if folks want different options in the upper price range of this sale. I hope to see you all out there on the bike trail!

Yeah, my spidey sense says there's a gold nugget somewhere in all those ebikes but reality says I have no idea what I'm doing.

Looking for a "you shouldn't wait to buy an ebike cause this is the deal" kind of thing?
Thanks!

Haven't gotten a ton of use out of mine since I got it at the end of summer, but I was really happy with my Juice scooter. Pretty beefy, good speed, and good range.

You called? Oh, wait, I don't know anything about ebikes either!

j/k, I think these same models have come up on various deals over the past few months so someone is bound to be able to make some ebike recommendations for you. Back in October-ish I had been looking at the Hang 5 escooter but opted for a comparable iScooter i9. $255 isn't terrible for that Hang 5 but there may be better options around that price (or one with better specs for a bit more).

Same may be true for the ebikes as well.

I have one, and several others to compare to. I would say quality is about ,%90 of my M365.

I don't have one of there Ebikes, but rather there scooter. but IMHO that one looks exceptionally cheap.
The Carve Single speed looks like a clone of the Bird Bike with the belt drive, and it probably a little better. At that price its tempting but I have a brand new Hyper Mountain bike inbound and I don't need 2 new Ebikes.

Very limited info on the big swell.
It has 1000w motor and I found them $1400 brand new.
Up to 60 miles per charge.
Up to 28 mph.

Big Swell is ackward to pedal but a lot of fun in throttle only.

My biggest complaint is that the seat is hard and difficult to swap.

Combine that with a solid rear and you get a pretty rough ride.

If I could find a better seat and some decent accessories I would be happy.

It seems faster to 28 than my Lectric XP 1.0.

I paid $1300 so under a grand seems solid for those who need a quick bike for smooth roads.
