Got this combo back in December. With the $25 new customer coupon it was $299. All I needed was 32GB of RAM and an inexpensive water cooler. Used existing power supply and SSD. System runs cool, quite, and no issues. Played around with overclocking but decided the net gain was not worth it.

Here is a link with more specials. It seems motherboards with DDR5 are the same price and in stock. https://www.microcenter.com/site/...board.aspx
As long as they have both products in stock the staff in the BYO computer area is often willing to honor the combo sale price for you.. they'd prefer the sale versus you not purchasing anything.

Speaking from experience (in the north east), never had an issue. They've even let me test an open box gpu in store to make sure it popped up as genuine in cpu-z/nvidia inspector
Not if you are signed into a microsoft account. Then its an electronic license, and you just mary it to your new setup.

Great package, I had three defective MB's in a row. First one didn't boot, second didn't see my GPU, third didn't give me the BIOS option on startup, didn't keep NUM Lock on and took a few more seconds to boot. Microcenter thought I was nuts. I brought in the comp to show them. Now I'm good. lol

Why never an itx motherboard deal?
A couple reasons IMO - people are willing to pay a price premium for a small form factor build and all the related small form factor components, and also sales volumes of mATX and ATX boards are far higher.

Got this deal in December too.

WiFi performance is terrible for me and I haven't figured it out. Only getting roughly 150Mbits/sec while my other machines can get the full 300Mbits/sec that I'm paying my ISP for.

Tried different antennas and made sure drivers were updated/correct. Not sure if it's a motherboard issue, but I just switched to wired ethernet and figured I would troubleshoot later. Seems like there are others having similar issues with the wifi chipset on this board.

There is also another $25 coupon if you post your "rig". I used one coupon for the CPU/mb bundle and the other on a separate purchase for a m.2 SSD.

I got the same combo deal in December. Mine can get almost 800 Mbps download speed from a Nighthawk RAX54 which is about 20 feet away though 3 or 4 walls.

How common are these Microcenter deals? I need and can afford an almost full build of $800 minus a GPU, but need some time to think. The AMD RX6800 xt I'm watching for can wait until months later.
This deal has been running off and on for months. I picked mine up back in October and I've seen it pop up a few other times since then.

The License is on your hard drive.
I'm pretty sure your Windows license is tied to your motherboard. That's how Windows has been doing it for a few years now. Let me know if things have changed.

Any thoughts on the 13th gen vs 12th gen processors? I'm building a new Unraid / Plex setup and trying to decide if I should go with the 13th gen. Trying to maximize the life of the box. Thanks!

I guess it's the 'whole system' nowdays. Anyway, all you do is move the hard drive and reactivate by calling.
