For all my Macbooks Airs and Pros, I've always used these snap-on cases and never had any issues. I don't stick to one brand though. I get whatever I feel is good so can't say this one or any other one would be issues but from my own personal experience, I've never had any issues with snap on cases ever. The snap-on case usually has cracks on the corners after a while though but I do just toss my MacBooks around like they're paperweights lol

Apple sells this exact same one. If there is a track record for cases breaking Mac screens, they wouldn't be sold every where. Better case is for camera peep blockers. Those will break screens.

Would these be compatible with the new M2 versions as well?

Not aware, but an Incase '21 14"pro comment mentions:

Snap on cases have had a track record of breaking the glass screen on the macbook, near the hinge, as it wasn't designed to have anything attached to it while closed (causing pressure in that one spot).

But hey, it's your money.

The fountain blue looks excellent on the grey M1 Pro, also fit on m2 pro. I was skeptical at first on how the color would appear, but I like. A definite steal at $10. I got it a few weeks ago at the same price when I picked up M1 Pro on sale from Costco. It has great vent ports that match the computer exactly. M1 Pro doesn't run hot, so it will never trap heat. If anything, it will prevent dents and dings.
Yes, Apple sells the same brand and case at retail. If cases were an issue, it wouldn't be on their site.

Apple also sells AppleCare+, which makes you pay yet an additional for repairs if it's not a manufacturing defect.

My point is, they profit from the sale of the device, from the warranty service, and from accessories that have the potential to damage said device.
But that is how insurance works, you are always liable for some cost. You don't need it, but if you break it, it's all on you. Apple is notorious for repair cost out of pocket. I've know that for years, but the experience I've had with Apple repairs and 90% them covering the cost, has been A+. Even if there is some factory defect, if it has insurance, they will never question it when going to repair and not charge anything. If it's out of warranty, of course they will fight tooth and nail or if you legit broke it. I had my iPad Pro 10.5 repaired twice - once screen defect or other I bent it; it was only $50 on my end to fix it. Broke my iPhone 11 in less than two weeks in a parking lot with a case and screen protector, still same cost. A year later the battery ran below 70%, they replaced that but messed up the phone replaced it for free. Also had another free repair after that. Laptop is more; however, I'd rather not gamble on it when the time comes or battery goes to crap. Either way, Apple has save me from external cost that could happen with any other electronic. yay rant.

They also profit from any damage caused by me carrying around the laptop. That doesn't mean I'm going to lock it to my desk.

This case problem doesn't seem like it's enough to be brought up by anyone and, if it were to happen as much as you're saying it does, the hordes of YouTube reviewers and Apple bloggers would be squeezing it dry for views.

I've owned multiple plastic cases like this across multiple laptops. The plastic corners crack. Because I carry my laptop around. That's it. That's all that happens.

That sleeve is massively overpriced relative to Amazon options. I'd never use one of those hard shell cases. If apple wanted you to use one they'd sell one themselves. Can't be good for the device

I bought this for $50 thinking it would be high quality and the side has a crack after a few months. For $10 I'd say it's still good. Also the blue is like a neon turquoise. Much brighter in person
