Purchased. A little confused/irked by the majority of the sound packs having a 180day valid download key.

But for the money... ::shrugs::

Ok, solved my own problem, sharing here for the TLDR- You do have 180 days to download, or else you have to pay a fee to be given access again.
Probably should buy one of those intel 1tb m.2 drives so you can just download/install everything to it, and keep it completely separate as your valid install.

Yes. You have 180 days time to download the sounds from your User Area > My Products > (product name) > Sounds Downloads, in your User Area on www.ikmultimedia.com. The time limit begins from the moment you register the included serial number. We do suggest to backup your sounds, as once your 180 days expire, download access can only be regained by purchasing a Sounds Reactivation Credit in the IK Multimedia Store.

The Sounds Reactivation Credit will reactivate the sounds download access for another 180 days time.>>

It's $10 bucks to re-activate the download after 180 days.

I have a bunch of IK stuff from before, so this deal isn't for me, but I have all of the software backed up on spinner drives in case I ever need to re-install for whatever reason.

And if I didn't have the backups, then $10 is not the end of the world for me.

Excellent. This is worth it for Amplitube 5 Max alone - the amp & cab sims are very, very good and the included packs & collections are all very useable, and that's just scratching the surface of what's included. If I'm honest there's probably more here than most people will ever use, but all of the bases are covered, from amp and cab sims, room size & type, mic placement (and even mic dynamics) and effects right through to final mastering.

Here's a review of Amplitube 5 by Pete Thorn, but as I say, this is just one small part of what you get here.

The 180 day thing is something that disappointed me too. Honestly I think if you're paying for a package like this you shouldn't have to pay again in 6 months if you haven't downloaded everything, but it seems that's IK Multimedia's business model. That's good advice about a separate drive though. I've used up a ton of storage since I installed a lot of this software yesterday.

Downloading to an m.2 drive only saves the sound libraries, correct? If you get a new laptop or hard drive crashes you don't have the original software to reinstall the application? Just asking because it seems like without the installation software you are screwed if you upgrade computers or have to rebuild the hard drive

YMMV, but I was also able to redeem IK Jam Points for up to 30% off when going direct through IK. I purchased Amplitube 5 several months ago, and now I'm able to bring the total price down to 69.99+tax.

For me, Bias FX is my favorite. They're all 3 full featured packages with so many options but it seems like I always find a sound I like quicker with Bias. You really need to spend some time with each and see what fits your style.... which is better a strat , a tele or a les paul....it depends

Depends on your situation. The software allows for multiple installs not limited by the 180 days.You could do something like buy a 2tb drive, and just dedicate it to everything in this package, software AND samples. Seeing as I plan to use this over an extended period of time, having the samples downloaded to a separate, movable package makes sense.
