Seems like a good deal to me, going to use for a TV, ext HD, and laptop. Total after everything was $63.55

I was going to buy a replacement battery for a similar but old APC unit. I might as well get this one for $20 more. Thanks!

Been looking at stuff for a week and this is a solid deal for a brand new unit. Barely more than the batteries by themselves.

Sorry for my ignorance but wouldn't it be better if you just get a power station pack?

I thought about that too. However, a power station may turn on the fan after a while. I would mind the fan noise. I also believe that the power station needs to be able to power at least 400 watts to be helpful to me.

had a couple that didn't last too long. found out they have gone thru multiple iterations due to defect(s). They beep loudly which is pretty annoying.

Convinced Worst Buy to pricematch it even though they whined about it. Just needed it faster so wanted to pick up locally.

This is a glorified surge protector.

The webpage states:
Quote :
"Stay available and connected by powering critical devices (computers, wireless networking devices, gaming consoles, security systems and other electronics) during a blackout"
But the device will only run for:
Quote :
"3.1 minute(s) Battery Runtime at Full Load "
I have an old BX1500G UPS from APC connected to my desktop system that I just replaced the batteries in. It not only protects against surges but also smooths out the power delivery and says it will run the system for 53 minutes now, which gives you more time to ride out a short blackout or power down.

Given that this model has been discontinued, you might find bargains available. Mine has been working for 8 years so far. Don't see any reason why it shouldn't continue to do the job.

I wish they would spread out the a/c inputs more. Put one at the end as well.

You realize that the one you have is 1500va, vs 650va of this one, right? All of these. Even the one you have are designed to keep things running for a short period of time until the power comes back or you turn the device off
